Anyone here seen the "Bubba Blades"?

They look like they might not be horrible if you're looking for a cheap filet knife. However, some of the copy on the website is just straight hilarious. Thought some of you might particularly enjoy this portion:

"We looked into what kind of metal is used on the most expensive knives and discovered that not all stainless steel is created equally. There are many factors involved in steel-making, and you need high-end steel to keep a sharp edge on a knife.

After months of research, we went with 8CR13MOV. We feel that it is the best steel on the planet for what fishermen and hunters want. This is a high carbon stainless steel with a Rockwell rating for hardness of 56-58, which is typically found in much more expensive knives. Simply put, this steel is the best we could find that would hold a razor sharp edge longer and take an edge when resharpening it.

All Bubba Blades are sharpened by hand at the factory to razor sharpness. For good measure we coated the blade with a non stick surface that is bonded with Titanium that will help prevent rusting & pitting and let the meat slide off the blade effortlessly."

I guess I just never realized the magical properties of 8CR13MOV! Who knew all my inexpensive knives were actually using top of the line steels!

I have held them in my hands and they are a big fillet knife. One of my friends has two of them and he loves them. He uses them to fillet out his salmon and according to him, one knife will do around 15-20 reds before he needs to touch them up.

the hype is reminiscent of Cold Steel, but I 'm sure that the dang things will fillet a fish with no problems.

I'm sure it will. Any sharp blade with decent geometry will work on fish. They really aren't all that tough. haha

Well that's good. They don't seem like too bad of a deal really. For the size blade you're getting it's not a bad price.

I don't like them. I fillet a few fish with my friends Bubba and promptly handed it back to him.I then proceeded to fillet another 38 rockfish with my old Kershaw. The blade flex sucked and the knife was bulky to me.No love lost...Marketing hype and a waste of money in my book at least as a fillet knife.I do like the Buck Clearwater in Sandvick steel for half the price of the Bubba marketed junk!

I just drawer'd my Sebenza and pocketed my cable tv King Cobra Atttacker 1.
