Are there any recommendations for leather conditioners or creams polish etc for a new buck 110 or 112 leather sheath? I tried Obenhaufs on a sheath and it didn't turn out that well. Does anyone know what type of coating they put on the sheath?

Anyway I love the Buck 110 sheaths and want to preserve them if I can. Have a great week and any feedback would be great.

I only have one leather Buck 110 sheath. :(
I do however, have a couple Old Timer 7OT/6OT leather sheaths that date from before Taylor/BTI.
I think all I've ever done to them was wipe with Mink Oil once or twice a year - if that.

What was the issue with Obenhauf's? When I make a sheath I usually wipe on a light coat of Obenhauf's leather oil. I have never had any problems. I don't think I have ever put anything on any sheath that came from buck.

I use mink oil and they stay nice and supple. If I expect rain and wet conditions I use a bit of bees wax to repel the moisture.

I think it's tough to beat Skidmore's Leather Cream.

Some leather sealers can make it difficult or near impossible for any kind of treatment to penetrate the smooth side of leather but I’ve found that if applied to the rough side usually the inside of the sheath the oil will soak in. Eventually the sealer will wear off and open up to allow the oil or creams to soak in. I’ve even used a fine scotch brite pad to remove a thick sealer and then a leather cream polish to get it looking new again after oiling.

Sno seal leather boot waterproofing, rub it on warm leather, then use a blow dryer to really get it to absorb, you won't need anything for a couple years after one treatment.

I put obenhaufs on the buck 110 shesth and the black coating came off and left the sheath With a patch of the black coating coming off and it looks crappy. I don’t know what type of coating they use to replace or strip off all the coating.

I use Obenaufs for everything, and never had an issue on my Buck sheaths.
Carry the knife on your hip for a couple months and you'll have some brown showing through the sheath from natural wear.

I like Renaissance Wax. A little expensive, but it goes a long way.

BIG fan here.. ALL my knives are Ren wax treated.. And I use it periodically off/on during their usage..

I've been using Pecard Leather Dressing for years on WW-I and WW-II leather slings and holsters - great leather dressing. Make sure you order the leather dressing and not the baseball glove conditioner. OH

I use saddle soap to clean, Ren wax or Snow Seal for protection.
