https://flic.kr/p/2kRnUgS Good evening. It’s been a long time posting anything, but getting my old Buck knives out.
My question, based on my photo, what is the year made? Buck 110, brushed nickel, G10, S30v. I just bought it new in the box, and box having a 2020 date on it. But, 2020 did not have the anvil as the date code. Help would be appreciated figuring this out.
Thank you

The Anvil stamp is used on the Limited edition knives in place of a date code! 10 years from now it makes it hard to date the knife as you have to reseach when it was made.

I believe that the Anvil is also used on Custom knives and that's what I suspect you have. You may want to post a pic of the entire knife so that we can evaluate.

It definitely looks like a standard 110 Hunter Pro but I still suspect it's a Custom. I am no expert so it's just one person's opinion! :)

edit: I believe the 110 Hunter Pro and the 112 Ranger Pro come with the nylon sheaths.

edit again: scratch that. The 110 comes with a leather sheath, according to the Buck website.

It could be a special build like SK or C&C or others sell.

I might be wrong but the handle scales look to be micarta. Also it might be the picture but the bolsters appear to be reddish like copper, if it is brushed bolsters those aren’t available in the custom shop. My guess is it’s a sfo like C&C offerings.

In the last part of 2020. Probably the last quarter, But I can't say for sure the exact date. Buck started offering a web exclusive 110. Black Crelicam ebony handle, S30V clip point blade. I picked one up as a spare, since I already had basically that same knife. I just looked at mine. it has the anvil stamp. That knife is still available on Buck's website under the ebony collection, still listed as a web exclusive. I think they are using the custom shop S30V blades. I'm pretty sure that is what you have, and suggest you keep the box if you are at all worried about date your knife was made.

Yes, good eye. The handles are micarta or G10 with copper. Hope this helps.

It is nickel brushed bolsters and G10. That picture is without a flash, so gives it the copper/brass color. I do have a picture with a flash that gives it a truer color.
Thank you

Nice looking knife.
Mine is G10.
Not worried about it though.
Thank you

looks like a 110 pro, but with an anvil laser engraved likely s30v blade.

so in the end i have no idear other than its black g10, nickel silver and has custom etched anvil blade. so has to be some version of the 110 pro. cause the rest is exactly a 110 pro.

I missed the obvious... you say that you purchased it "new in the box"... do you still have the box? If so, what is the model number on the end flap? For reference, check out Old Biker's post #11. That should solve the mystery.

Ok, maybe I could have explained it differently. I should have asked, why does my knife have the etched anvil on the blade tang, with the box showing made in 2020? I hope this makes sense. If not, it’s not no big deal really.
Thank you
George
