Do any pictures of the first 110's exist?

I have searched "original buck 110 made in 1964" and similar searches and found nothing. I even searched blade-forums and found mostly 50th anniversary 110's saying 1964-2014. My plan is to fondle my 2017 110 as I glance back and forth from the '64 model to my own.

I always read that "minor changes" were made. I'd like to see those! I saw ONE picture of what seemed to be a '64 Buck 110. It had silver? or nickle? bolsters and it was on a Buck youtube video; The "know your knife Buck 110" video to be exact in case anyone hasn't seen it.

I saw that the nail nick was smaller, blade seemed very thin to me but I assumed it was from being sharpened for so long. If anyone has any suggestions of sites or better search terms or whatever to find some of the oldest 110's, I'd really really appreciate it!

EDIT: I cannot believe I forgot to ask for photos of your '64/OLDEST Buck 110. If it's not inconvenient for you, I'd love to check them out!

A "small" thanks:
You all are very awesome! I am always grateful for every single one of you who reply!! I never take you all for granted, and without you, I wouldn't know 50% or more of what I learned in the last year or so. An overwhelming amount of information exists RIGHT HERE. It's a gold mine and most of you are regulars that I see on almost EVERY thread. I'm not too sure why I love buying knives and I'm just as equally unsure why I like learning about them, I'm blaming you all ;) You make it interesting and fun.
As far as the recent negativity/trolling, you regulars all handled it well and I was happy with the Mods decision. This is a great site and it will remain so. Have a great night/evening everyone!

Search for "1st version Buck 110".

At least here, versions and variations are how the 110s are cataloged.

Stumps to the rescue, perhaps?

Crazy,

Here is a little to start things while we wait for Stumps. For the 1st Version 1st Variation, the horizontal "BUCK" stamp is on the righthand side. The handle, blade and one- piece spacer and spring are thinner than on later knives (I would have to look at my notes for the actual measurements.) One of the big problems was that the spring tended to break. In fact Buck went through several years and versions before they solved problems associated with the spring, spring holder/spacer. The 50th Anniversary 110 Federal captures a lot of the characteristics of the 1st/1st and is a lot easier to find.

In the mean time, this is a photo that Mike Kerins says is a V1V1. (Mike is a member here and this is his photo. Rescued from Photobucket)

It is BEAUTIFUL!! If nobody had told me it was that old, I'd never know...

Also beautiful...
EDIT: Is the 50th anniversary 110 a "replica", for lack of a better word? To clarify my odd wording: What is different from my 2017 110 and the 50th anniversary one? Again, Awesome pic and thanks!

So far I notice a few changes other than what was mentioned already. The number of pins, the edges are a bit less rounded, a flat grind?!?!?, the top portion of the clip point is less defined. Now I'm curious about what changes were made with each version. Just imagine having a photo for each 110 version/variation, going in direct order from first to most recent. Mind blowing. I picture it would be near impossible to get a photo of EVERY 110 version/variant considering how old/rare they are? It's just a cool thought. I really REALLY appreciate this you two!!!!!!

If you look at Joe Houser's "revised 110/112 data sheet" sticky at the top of the postings you can work your way through a lot of the changes.

So the differences between a 50th anniversary 110 and your 2017 model are largely cosmetic. Very little has changed over the past couple of decades.

The difference between the Federal replica and the modern 110 is pretty drastic. These photos are from the Federal replica, not an original V1V1, mechanically, the original was quite different. I can't offer details as there are folks far more knowledgeable than I on the topic.

The top knife in the photo is a modern 110, the other is a Federal replica. The frame, spring holder (rear spacer), spring, and blade on the Federal replica are all smaller, thinner, narrower, etc...

As Bert mentioned, the blades of the V1V1 were thinner as well. I don't remember exactly what I mic'd them at but I believe the standard 110 is .120" and the Federal replica was .118". It doesn't seem like much, but see for yourself: Modern on top...

Thanks Bert! Please show off more!

I think if several people on this forum combined what they have, you would see all of the Versions and Variations described in Joe Houser's data sheet. In fact you might see some variations not mentioned by Joe. I can think of several collectors who could do that by themselves.
