Buck 110 made in China?

The sheaths are not made in the states but the knives are. Like you stated the blade is marked USA for a reason. The sheaths are marked either Mexico (leather) or China (nylon).

There is one knock off 110 out there from time to time that is the best fake I've seen-looks identical except the scales almost look like a custom shop scale.

Hopefully Dick's Sporting Goods isn't stocking fake/counterfeit 110's.

Never seen anything but the real deal in local Dick's Sporting Goods stores.

My guess is they misread the package where it referred to the sheath, or are just full of it.

I've sent an e-mail to someone at BKI and asked them to respond to this. If Dick's and Walmart buy their 110's direct from Buck and not through some other source, that should put the China question to rest. Buck very likely isn't selling Chinese made fakes of their own knives.

Even if some Chinese maker has "perfected" a fake 110, if Dick's and Walmart get their stock from Buck, theirs no chance of them selling the fakes.

This e-mail just came from Bill Keys, a director at Buck knives regarding the question.

"Hi Dave,

All of the Buck 110's we sell are produced here in the US (Post Falls, ID). Dick's and Wal Mart both buy directly from Buck; we receive their orders directly in house and ship from here to there distribution centers or stores. We control the distributors (number, who they are, etc) that we sell to. All of them are reputable and if we were to become aware that they were selling counterfeit Buck products, we would drop them and take action immediately. That being said, I know there are many counterfeit Buck knives, including 110's, out there. Buying from a reputable source is the best guarantee against counterfeits.

Bill Keys"

When I was working a guy handed me a fake 110 from Pakistan.I checked it out and the knife had blade play in all directions, the lock ,spring, scales and blade were really cheap junk.I bet for an extra $10-$15 he could have bought a real one. When you buy a quality knife, IT ONLY HURTS ONCE.:)

Used and older knives are one thing, because it's hard to fake patina and other true signs of age......but if you're buying a brand new Buck knife, I'd get it direct from Buck or Larry Odin or another very trusted and reliable source.

And e-Bay is not, in general, a good place to gamble on new knives. Some that come out of China have counterfeit Buck boxes, papers, sheathes and are marked exactly or almost exactly like the new Bucks. Even the 110 is suspect. Some incredibly perfect and excellent fit/finish copies have been seen on this very forum.

He posted again in the other thread and stated it is marked CHINA on the blade.

I just checked Dick's Sporting Goods website, don't want to run the risk of getting gigged for posting a link but if you look up the a Buck 110 it lists

Country of origin : CHINA

The knife pictured on their website has no nail nick, nor does it show any marking on the base of the blade.

I just sent a link to Bill Keys at Buck to that 110 page on Dick's site. Lets wait until we hear back from him before we get too excited.

To quote Bill:

It says that for every one of the Buck's on their website. The 119, Vantages (clearly marked USA on the blade). It's obviously a misprint.

The one on the website looks just like one I have! I guess it's pretty rare, no nail nick and no tang stamp.

Looks like Dick's does a lousy job in listing country of origin. They don't have the Bucks correct, for sure. Hope buck calls them and gets it corrected.

Dave, a little spa visit and that 110 would be factoryy new again! It really stands out with that nekid blade! :D
