Hey gang, I recently posted about losing my 501. I decided to just buy another 110 to use as an all around knife and keep my other 110 specifically for hunting. So I bought the Boone and Crockett on sale for 35 dollars. Giving the tin to my youngest for odds and ends. I knew these came with a nylon sheath and had intended to just use an extra leather one I had laying around in its place. Funny thing though, I kinda like the nylon sheath! Its lower profile makes it less obtrusive and ride better on my belt. I opt for leather whenever possible, but this may be an exception! Never would have thought!

I prefer the leather, but have no issue with the nylon. Great for hunting cuz if it gets full of blood and guts, ya just toss it in the wash.

I have a 110 on my belt every day. The nylon works best for me. The slimmer profile does not catch on things as easy and it's easier to conceal under a shirt if needed.

When I was younger I would never have liked a nylon sheath. Now, I prefer them. Especially since standard 110 leather looks like nogahide nowadays.

I am assuming it is the same as what comes with the 110 LT. I posted this after a similar experience as yours :

The new pouch for the 110 LT has drawn some flack for being cheep or a short cut.
At first I didn't really look at it and just planned on carrying the LT in my pocket because it is so light or using my old Buck leather 110 pouch but recently, since I was going to be carrying a smaller knife in my pocket and wanted the 110 LT with me as well I looked over the new LT sheath / pouch to see if I wanted it on my belt for the LT and it looks good to me.

Decent stitching, heat fused at one point to lock the stitching (I assume) and make a secure/durable finish for the ends of the edge banding that covers and finishes the edges all around the pouch.
One can put the pouch on a belt or on shoulder strap because it has two loops just for a vertical strap.
This seems to be a quality pouch and well thought out.

I carried it on my belt today and it was great. Not as easy to just drop the knife into as the old one but it won't be flopping around on my belt; it rides flat and close on the belt.

I like the nylon best. It will not mar or corrode my knives and is easy to wash if it gets dirty. It may be me, but they seem a bit lighter, as well.

I know saying this will probably not be popular, but the nylon sheath is the better sheath: for storage, lighter and smaller carry, can be easily cleaned (washer), is cheap to replace, and won't rot. The leather sheath feels better in-hand and is better to look at, if you spend a lot of time sittin' around feeling and looking at your sheath...

Same here, several of each, nylon wins, I was kind of surprised the 110 Pro came with leather over the nylon.

Same here. I like the nylon sheath that came with my 110LT. The slimmer profile, lighter weight, and the ability to carry vertical or horizontal are all pluses for the nylon.

I haven't used one of bucks nylon sheaths, but the nylon sheaths I have used always started fraying and coming apart at the seams. So I avoid nylon sheaths. My buck 112s came with nylon sheaths. I built a leather one instead.

O.B.

I had very little faith in the nylon sheath, so when I got stuck with one I used it for work figured I'd trash it quickly and throw it away.
It's been over a year and it is still holding up. Color me shocked.

I'm shocked as well. The sheath is so low profile I keep passing by wondering what knife it is on my dresser. I can belt carry with a T Shirt on and it is pretty discreet! Never was that way with the leather ones.

It's a pro. Entry level 110s or blems come with nylon, nylon is nice but not nearly as nice as the leather ones. All of those old 110s we see with their original leather all broken in look great, keep using the leather and it will be soft and flatten out,

The SOG Paratool fits perfectly in the nylon 112 sheath and horizontal carry is the way to go. The original Paratool sheath wore out ages ago and since I acquired an extra 112 sheath I'm kitted out.

I'm still partial to leather, but there's nowt wrong with the nylon. The Buck nylon sheathes are the best I've come across.

I've worn out dozens of Buck leather 110 sheaths. Either the top of the belt loop would start to cut, or the bottom bolster would wear through. They don't flatten out, they get soft and floppy. The ones from the 80's wore better than the new ones. The nylon ones wear well.
