I wonder how small of an angle will a Buck 112 take? I do not know what angle it comes from the factory but it seems pretty thick. Do you think it would take a 17° or even a 15° angle per side?

If you have a Buck 112 what angle have you found it to take well? I am used to sharpening Queen slippies in 1095 or D2 and they take a 17° edge no problem.

I have an old Buck Scoutlite, and it takes 15 degrees w/o a problem. It is the old 425 Modified steel though. Buck's new Edge 2000 supposedly supplies the knives with a much reduced edge angle for improved cutting and edge holding. If yours has the new edge style, it should be near 15 degrees as is.

Mine is a 2006 model and it is no way 15°. I bet it's 20 or 25. I got it brand new about 3 weeks ago. It wouldn't cut through cardboard today without a lot of force. The cardboard was maybe 3/16" thick. I realize that the Buck 112 is way thicker than a slippie but I wouldn't think it would give me this much trouble. Maybe I should go back to my slippies.

I take all my Bucks to a 15 degree per side, and have not had a bit of problem yet. I would go for it.
