New to the forums, so hey guys
Recently bought a buck 119 and I could not be happier. It is so pretty and shiny, hope one day my grandson will have it.

Have a good day guys:thumbup:

Welcome, your first post in the Buck forum. You are a new knife collector, be warned that it is addictive. Thank you for showing us your 119. Since you showed yours, I'll show you one of mine, A Ducks Unlimited Buck 119 from about 1983. I have had this knife for a long time and did not realize until just this moment when posting the picture that it does not have a fuller groove.... huh... something new noticed.

Are my eyes seeing things? Does that 119 have a black stacked leather handle?

That looks really cool. I bought the knife after reading stories about it from the war and how it is a family heirloom and stuff.

Have any of you guys had trouble with a 119 having chips out of the edge after quartering a deer. I had thet experience. I don't put a lot of force on my knives but had it happen anyway. This has only happened twice, once with a Muella and once with a 119. Only tiny chips though. I take it as a sign that the 119 has very hard steel in it something I find desirable. My wife has a 119 that she wont allow me to remove from the kitchen. She cuts up whole chicken with it and the deer/hog meat i bring in. She says its the best knife she has.

Welcome Ragnar and congrats on your 119! Curious, do you have trouble snapping the sheath closed with the paracord wrapped handle?

I did at first but once you do it a few times, the leather stretches and fits well. Also I think what you could do is take the paracord and shrink it in boiling water to make it a little smaller in diameter???

Like I said before, I mainly did it so the metal studs don't damage the handle. That knife is just so beautiful. Do you have a 119 too???

I understand your concern regarding damaging the handle. You can also cover the studs and snaps with leather. Works great and you can hardly see it.

I purchased my first 119 about six months ago. Went with a late 70s model for the 440C steel and swivel sheath. Really like this knife!

Ragnar - Welcome to the forum. The 119 is an American Classic that is for sure. Wrapping the handle with paracord was a good idea.

Here is a 119 made by CJ Buck.

I only own 5 Buck knives, but they all get used and admired a lot. :)

I strap the 119 on every time I head to the woods which are right outside my door. I use it for nearly everything. Weekend before last I cut up two slabs of BBQ ribs with it. I slice, dice and chop in the kitchen, clean game and look at it admiringly.

Do you only own bucks? Or is it forbidden to speak other brands on here?

Mostly Bucks, a couple of Randalls, and a Benchmade. How about yourself? Is the 119 your first Buck? If you don't already own one, you should consider a 110. It really is the quintessential Buck knife.
