Buck 313 Value Question

First off, I'll admit that I know next to nothing about Buck knives. I recently received a Buck 313 (I'm assuming that's what it is because that's what it says on the blade) from a deceased great uncle. It's fairly worn, but the blades are still in great condition. There is a bit of rust on the handle. I believe he carried it quite a bit because the handle grooves are worn down slightly. My question is: Is this knife worth anything besides the sentimental value?

Value on a well used one is a hard thing to set, but there is some collector interest.

Of the last few on Ebay, a well used one went for under $6.00, while a nice one with it's original box went for under $37.00.

TLC, has you ballparked, I generally tell you about the knife. The 313 shape of knife is a two blade, opposite end, skinner with one spey blade. Knives of this design were favored by trappers for removing and preparing small pelts. Hence the name "Muskrat". In fact this knife was and is still favored by muskrat trappers especially in the midwest and Mississippi valley.
Production started in 1972 and ended in 1998. "The 313 Muskrat was manufactored by Camillus for Buck and was added to the line in 1972 along with the 311,315 and 317." (Oden, Knife World, p.28, Jan.2000). It's usually found in only three variations, blade tang stamped BUCK,313,Made in USA; blade tang stamped BUCK,313,USA with one nail nic groove ground in scale on front and BUCK, 313,USA with a nic groove ground in both scales. Not considered extremely rare they are still sought after by trappers for everyday use. Other manufactors made similar models.
Price varies greatly by quality. Buck currently offers "like" models made in China, under diffferent model numbers with several scale types. ..... 300$s

Thanks for the help guys. Now I know that I can go and use this knife for daily tasks and not be worried about devaluing an expensive knife.

I just saw an auction on Ebay with a mint Buck 313 with the original box that went for $80.
Wow.

Mint in the Box in any model usually means you go to the "Mint" to get enough money to buy it......

Christmas 'effect' may still have hold of the bay, wait till tax time and a different effect may take over...........300$s
