I just got a Buck Solo today, and I have to say, I am in love with this little guy!! While I am a Peanut fanatic, it's handle has always been a source of frustration. It is a tad bit too short. However, I don't like large knives. Not only do I feel less control with a longer blade, I don't like a big imprint in my pocket, or anything in there jabbing me in the leg. The Solo is a perfect compromise. It is small enough to be sheeple friendly, disappear in your pocket, and handle small detailed work, and large enough to fit your hand comfortably and securely while handling larger jobs, such as food stuffs, or pretty much anything else you may come across in your normal day. I will be carrying this little guy for a while and give it a trial run, but I am really liking it already.

Yeah, it totally is. I was always a fan of smaller knives. This one fits the bill perfectly. Don't know why I never looked at this pattern before. I've been using it for everything since I got it. I did notice some minor fit and finish issues, but I don't care. It's a user, and it will be used. Plus, my almost three year old daughter picked it out for me, so it has sentimental value as well as being a good user. From what I hear, Buck's imported line has changed it's steel for 2009 and newer knives. 420JR or something. However, this one is 2008, so it still has the awesome 420HC steel that I really like. A very good user steel. Takes a CRAZY edge, and holds it for a good long time.

If you get some good pants from Cabela's you can do better.

A folding Kalinga, a SAK, a 1911 Colt, a few clips, a couple of 110s, a Model 60 Smith, lunch, wallet, keys, a nice big red handkerchief.....

Somebody needs pants with better pockets.

:D
