But it occured to me some of y'all might have some experience with this guy

Anyone carry one of these long term

Good experience? Bad
I picked up one because I wanted to try out a buck mini trapper
Wasn't til after I bought it that I realized it wasn't USA made.

Course that doesn't automatically mean it's bad
But I thought I was ask around and see what folks experiences with it have been.

My initial impression
-Compared to my case, it lacks half stops.
-Springs feel alot weaker or softer which could be a pro or a con depending on an individual preferences
-Slightly beefier clip blade which I prefer but the wood scales are a tad wider and have sharper angles/edges which is not so great.
-The backspacing and liners are not even/smooth so I would have to say inferior fit and finish albeit at nearly half the cost I suppose that is to be expected.

Don't have a 382 Mini Trapper. However, I do have a 389 Canoe, and a couple 371 offshore stockman. Never had any negative issues with them.
Somewhere I have a 38x large or extra large Bill Dance(?) or other "professional" Bass Fisherman trapper. My one complaint is the secondary Wharncliffe blade has tiny serrations. I like serrated blades almost as much as locating an immovable object (such as the coffee table) in a pitch dark room with either little toe, or finding a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 Leggo block OR sandburr/goatshead thorn barefooted and between the toes. 😡 (I'm allergic to pain, BTW)
Other than the serrated blade, it seemed like a nice knife. I haven't seen it for going on 4 years. I think it got lost during my move here.☹️

The USA on the blade means the world to me!

Here in NC all the mom and pop local hardware stores have big old fashioned CASE displays.
Thank God we have the Buck website.
I own 1 Case and 50-60 Bucks so you see where my loyalties lye just wish the full size trapper would come back and be a USA made knife.😢

Is the reason Buck doesn’t really have as many traditional slip joints because they aren’t popular anymore or because enough of us won’t buy foreign made especially those that use slave labor?
The 301 and 303 stockman are still made in the USA. Unfortunately, i don’t think they are top sellers for Buck and they don’t seem to have much of an interest in promoting them. They do offer an occasional special run with quality steel and handle materials, but these can be pricey and the build quality can be rough. I think Buck could easily generate some interest in the base 301 and 303 models if they just did a yearly run of different colored handles beyond the black valox.

I wouldn't mind seeing the 500 and 700 series be brought back, especially the 700. Also I would like an expansion of the 300 series, even if China-made. But I doubt just selling knives to collectors is economically feasible to Buck. Their 301 carbon fiber Stockman was $125. I bought one but c'mon, it was pricey.

Sorry was in a strange mood this morning. I vaguely remember what i posted? Was my post moved to an appropriate thread or just deleted?

So the message i got was it was moved to a political forum? Is that the same thing as it’s deleted? Once again I apologize for my indiscretion.

I have had 1 or 2 of the Chinese bucks before, and they were pretty nice. Actually, they were all built a lot better than any modern day US made Buck slipjoints that I have had. I liked them alot and would not turn one today, except that the steel kind of sucks. Really soft, so they did not hold an edge well. And they are made in China if that bothers you (it bothers me a little bit).
