Buck 914 / Cabelas Marbles Woodcraft Replica

I saw one of these a few years ago on one of these forums and instantly fell in love. I looked and looked for a long time and never ran into one. My understanding is that these were made in a very short run for Cabelas in 92-93.

I just snagged one on a different forum and can not be more excited to get it hand. I really like the Marbles Woodcraft design and have owned a few of the originals. The handles are a bit small and uncomfortable for to me. I am curious to see if this Buck replica is similar

I would love to learn more about this model. Steel type? Rarity? USA made? Value? Etc!

You don't see them much, but the Cabelas version shows up now and then for sale.

Besides the original leather handled 914's for Cabela's, Buck did 2,500 of these 914's for Ducks Unlimited in 1995. There was another run several years later with Aluminum furniture instead of Brass. There is also a rare twinset with the 914 paired with a 105, probably only samples.
About the steel, the Cabela's version was 1992 (? I think) and that was about the time Buck was changing from 425m to 420HC, so I don't know which. The Dymondwood handled DU versions were definately 420HC.

I wonder, Buck did 2500 of those 1995 DU knives. That is alot of blades hanging around to use for buildouts.
Without my having to dig thru the basement to find mine, does your Cabela's 914 have a date code?

Thats a standard version. I havent seen any buildouts that i remember.

I've seen those with a variety of handles. I assume they would be build-outs of some type.

This just says Buck, so it's a DU blade.

The flat grind on this knife makes it sorta fun to take pictures of... It's got a good look.

Nice knives. Thank you everyone for sharing the pictures and knowledge. I wasn’t familiar with this one. Now it looks like I’ll have to figure out a way to find a leather stacked version. Enablers.

This one came with a bonus.
Green micarta handle w/ a Cabela's blade.
And you know it's a cool sheath when it's got a pine tree on it.
This sheath is awesome, and I was buying the knife. That was a good week!
