Looking at the Buck custom shop 112 and I'm not sure about the blade selection. I've been pretty happy with the steel on my 501 but is the S30V much better than the 420HC?

I would get 440c if it were me. The s30v is nice and toothy but 440c is just beastly. Plus that's what buck started with. And a drop point imo.

You can get a drop point blade from the custom shop yes. I had one and traded it off. D2 s30v and I believe bg-42.

Beautiful knife learn something new every day. Buck has soo many knives it's impossible to know all.

No thanks. I like the 110 and 112 to have a clip point, but the Buck custom shop does not make the 112 with a drop point.

I didn't think 440 was either, but I figured they might have done something special. I think he ment 420hc. The old 440c was great stuff tho.

ive yet to own a buck s30v, but from what I read, its harder to sharpen on your own, but it holds its each longer than the 420hc. So I guess its a trade off. I only one knife in S30V and its Spyderco that I dont use.

Yes they are lol. And Paul bos s30v is awesome! Its not hard to sharpen I don't think. Of course I can sharpen m4 in my sleep to :)

Custom shop 112? Are they doing this again? Gotta go look.

DONE!!!!!! S30V with walnut scales & finger grooves!!!!!!! Awesome!!! I've been drooling for a Custom Shop 112FG for way too long and now I'll have one.

May have to order another with elk scales!

Awesome! Really glad I saw this thread.

Edited: FYI: three years later, a pic of walnut/ S30V & Ironwood/ S30V. And drop points are available now.
