Welcome!

They're all fine knives and I'd only have two suggestions.

The FOLDING Kalinga Pro is discontinued but can still be had for about $100 on e-Bay. Since it's discontinued, it's a superb knife and you're in a buying mood......might be a good one to invest in.

Second......I told somebody else recently that the older Kalinga fixed blades are available mint and reasonable on the Bay if you take your time and bid carefully.......and I find them much better-looking than the new fixed blade Kalinga.

Otherwise, your knife ideas sound fine to me. They're all great knives.

Cleber,

That's three very good fixed blade knives. I own all three (an Ergo in Rosewood and 420hc).

The Kalinga is a big have knife with an incredible S30V blade. But it is a knife more dedicated to skinning in my opinion. A good choice for a elk hunter for example that's caping in the field with no time to re-sharpen.

The Ergo Hunter is another that's a skinner design. As the name suggests the ergonomics on this knife are super (my least fav or the three).

The Vanguard is the general purpose knife in the bunch and would be best as your camp knife and general carry. I will tell you that the Vanguard is one of my favorite Buck fixed blade patterns. An absolute must have blade for a Buck enthusiest. So this would be my choice if you're limited to one.

But get all three if you have the resources. :D

I would also suggest you look into a Buck 121 Fieldguide as a Camp, Kitchen, and general purpose knife. And, you need a Vantage Pro too.

Larger knife is the 121

My sentiments exactly!

I would say the Vanguard is your best bet! I have the ergo Avid as well ,and love it, theres just something about the grip on the pro model... The Kalinga is a great knife also, but as Flatlander said, it probably is more suited to skinning etc. Its a huge chunk of S30V, but it is also discontinued, so if you think you may want one, I wouldnt wait too long!

You cant go wrong with any of these Bucks in S30V though!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a comparison photo of the knives in case you've never seen them side by side.

Buck 110 Custom from buck shop with s30v and cherry-wood (still not here yet but ordered)

So what are the rest of the details? Rivets ? No rivets? Nickel silver? brass?
I hope you post some pics when it arrives! I love the cherry 110's! You will love it!

Thanks for the nice comparison pics Dave! Gotta love that BG-42, MSU, overrun, Build-out! :D:thumbup:

Thx for all the comments....

The problem is not deciding what I want, that is easy I want them all:D
The problem is that I cannot afford them all at once....:(

But I think I have to play safe/smart and go for the kaling pro fixed hence is discontinued and still available on ebay new ones.

I have no need for the kalinga pro but it such good looking piece that I'll add to the collection anyways.....

Cant wait till the Custom 110 from buck customs to arrive, here are the details:
Buck 110
S30V
Cherry-Wood
Nickel plated bolsters
Nickel rivets (added after I placed the order without rivets) after more research and suggestion from you guys I decided I like the rivets after seeing all the pics with rivets....
Also got my last name engraved on the blade  (this is the one I'll pass to my baby boy when he gets to the right age, and it will be used I think using the knife adds personality to the piece I'm sure he will appreciate that...)

Nice knives! You will like that 110 custom shop!

If you want them all, I think you made the right choice! ;) That kalinga is a great knife!

Next you should go for that Vanguard! :D (AND the Ergo hunter ) :D

I would agree that the Vanguard is the choice from among the group for a general purpose user. As much as like the old-style fixed blade Kalinga and the Rosewood S30V Folding Kalinga Pro, they are not general application knives. I have them but am not sure I'll ever use them much.

My general purpose users are actually the 110 and the 347. I used a Vanguard on a salmon fishing trip (I hate cleaning fish with a folder) and it was great. It's also a good camping knife.

I always buy what I like... That's what I tell everyone... Buy what you like... You have to use it... Good luck on what ever you get... ITE ...
