so got this folding buck saw. just like folding saws for certain tasks... put it to work this weekend cleaning up some weed tree limbs....20190323_172506_480x853.jpg 20190323_172600_480x853.jpg 20190323_172907_480x853.jpg 20190323_173129_800x450.jpg
found this old saw in the weed trees left for dead. no idear who left it. had to be long ago as I've owned this property a long time.

this buck did well. the grip angles a bit weird compared to my silky and other brands. works well enough. says 5160 on one dealers site, its Chinese made so no idear of steel. anyone know for sure on the steel? doesnt matter as it cuts, just curious.

I use mine for little projects. One piece of advice keep an eye on the pivot screw. Last fall I was using mine and the pivot nut fell off and I could not find it. Thank you "Buck" for fixing it. All in all it works well for light duty cutting. Not sure what type of blade steel.

I think I will stick with the pruning blade that firs my cordless saws all. The battery will last longer than I care to pull on a hand saw.

once the limbs down, as in, fell on its own... its hard to use a sawzall.

That makes hand sawing even more difficult. Saws all is definitely easier then, compared to by hand.

if your talking a smaller one handed type sawzall, okay?

if youre talking a two hand full sized sawzall......im gonna disagree. I find a full size sawzall to move too fast and cause vibrations that move the stick around.....even if speed adjusted and hand sawing is easier to control.

now if you're talking about sawing limbs attached with a secure point of attachment and doing many of them.....sure.....if not I find handsaw easy enough. I also grab an axe sometimes instead of the chainsaw, but that's me.

Nope, full sized saws all. Just make sure the foot is pushed/held hard against it and it won't beat back and forth. After cutting the first piece lay the next on it and hold it down with your foot.
But by all means I use the chain saw first, then saws all second. Third wait for another day when I have option 1 or 2 with me. LOL I quit using an axe when my dad let me use the chainsaw the first time.
I look at a hand saw much like I do a shovel, if I don't carry one I don't have to use it. I don't mean to come across lazy, but you can get a whole lot more done with power tools and move on to something more enjoyable.

When climbing a tree the first time with a climber stand I take the saws all with me to trim it and get it done and over with.

gotcha, but for this task I did, Id still wouldnt use my sawzall. I get ya would.

the stuff i was cutting handsaw was just faster easier, to me. I dont mind a bit of work sometimes and it wasnt much. your thinking maybe all day of cutting and it was not much more than I took a pic of. dragging out the sawzall to the backyard for this.....handsaw was easier, to me. it doesnt take many pulls to get through these soft weed trees.

plus buck doesn't have a sawzall or chainsaw.:)
