I have a Buck 119 and want more grip on the handle. I thought about grip tape but I would like other suggestions. What do you suggest?

How about a paracord wrap between the bolster and pommel? Maybe remove the inner strands so it doesn't bulk up the handle as much.

Take a scotchbrite pad and rough up the handle a bit,i did this with a 103 skinner and my 119,it is for user knives only though,I absolutely had to do it as they were slippery for me during field dressing/skinning chores.

Yes, I agree ! Just one run around the handle w/ 3-400 grit sand paper should do it . Then cut up a whole fryer, handling it first with your hands should tell you if this achieved enough grip . Let us know what you thought . DM

Many of the gun sites will have a rubber tape that is used to wrap pistol handles for better grip. Might start with Midway

Thinking outside the box, would it be possible to have a handle from a Vanguard swapped onto a 119 or 120 blade?

I don't think he wants to replace the 119, he wants to fix the handle so it's not so slippery.

oh well ...
gee i have no idea
tape would get real nasty would do only for one time use..
checkering might work as well as sand blasting
or dip in a bucket of handle grip stuff the put on handles of pliers..
the later would be my choice for using more then once

Super glue.....it will grow out eventually....but you sure will not lose your grip until it does.

Dave,,,maybe tape, as such, isn't the right term. There is rubber grip wrap that handgunners use on pistol handles. I don't know how it works, but it isn't a one time use thing. fwiw

I have an old 102 woodsman that had the same problem when new.

I took some 220 sandpaper and gently roughed up the micarta handle in a circular swirl pattern, and now I can grip it soaking wet with no slipping at all. In fact, the micarta looks better with a rough finish than highly polished like Buck does it.
