Hello Gentalmen And Gals that are in to knives. I have always Had knives all over my house.I buy them and enjoy them and trade them and sell them .Throw them and break them and fix them and do a whole lot of sharpening them.I have a few that are collectable but this folding Buck knife i came across has me a bit stumped.I bought it because its just like the one i carried back in my biker days in the early 70s but this one is in near perfect unused condition like its never even been out of the case.it is i beleive made in 1971 or 72 but i noticed the Buck USA Blade Stamp is on the wrong side of the Blade.Out of all that ive seen,My friends have seen and all that ive seen on line are on the left side of the blade but this one is on the right side so im just wondering if i have something rare or unusual unique. maybe a little valuable.Im just wanting to know if i should keep it in unused condition.Any feedback will be much appreciated .thanks

Yes Buck did make some with the tang stamp on the non-nail nick or right side of the blade. The tang stamp is from the 1968 - 1970s, there were to different versions of the 110 with the right side stamp, one with two handle pins and one with no handle pins. Post a photo of your 110 as we like photos here.

I'm trying to post a few photos that I took but I haven't found a link to my gallery yet but I get what you say in your answer that it is safe to use it as a regular knife and I won't be working with something special that should be left untouched. It has some black in the brass from just sitting in the case for all these years but otherwise it's in brand new condition but it has 3 pins in the handle not 2 or none.

The version you most likely have is a version 3 variation 9. That is the only 110 knife I know of that has the stamp on the right hand side. Made in (1968-1970) BUCK u.s.a. inverted, Right hand 440C steel. It is rare to come by these days. I do own one. Brass Spacer/Spring holder. Rocker rivet, Brass maybe headed. I consider this a very fine example of the knife in question. Keep it unused if possible.

Odd variations like yours are absolutely collectable and would be worth more to a collector than as a user..And definitely a good 110 to trade. I bet you could get S30V or maybe even a Stag 110 user. You just don't see many like that.

I think you misunderstood. It’s definitely collectable and not a user. It should be in a collection somewhere.

See bucksway bucksway ‘s advice in post #8

PLB- your 3rd version 9th variation is a fine example of keeping everything new on an old knife!! It looks like it has never been sharpened.I really like the older ones.
