Hello, my names Noah I received a Buck knifes bucktool 360 from my grandpa years ago. Grandpa isn’t around anymore and I’d really like to keep this as a keepsake from him. Now my question is how can I fix the locking mechanism on the right handle? It no longer “locks” the tools in place. I’ve contacted Buck knives and they told me I could exchange it for a 50 dollar store credit but other than that they cannot help. It seems as though the spring for the locking plate no longer pushes the plate up, thus causing the tools to not lock. Any help would be greatly appreciated

First off, welcome to the Buck forum Noah ! Secondly, sorry for your loss. I’m sure your grandpas tool means a lot to you.

I will have to get my bucktool out and see what and how the lock operates to get an idea how it might be fixed if possible. They have been discontinued for a while now so parts are probably very scarce. Maybe if you could find a used one that still has decent parts to swap with yours. I try to get back to you this evening after I get home from work.

After checking my Bucktool out unless the release spring is broken you could have lint or debris in under the spring causing it to foul or jam the action. You might try washing with soap and water and blow it out with compressed air to dislodge the crud. Dry it good and then apply some oul to the pivot end and see if that helps. It looks to be a tite hidden area underneath the spring, I couldn’t get a look underneath it so it’s possible something is under there fouling it up. Hope this helps!

Hello Noah
Unfortunately lock failure was a problem with the 360 BuckTool. So warranty department ran out of parts years ago. If you want to use a 360 BuckTool maybe you can pick up one online. Fixing the tool you have would take special tools. If you choose to fix it yourself buy one for parts.

Welcome to the forum Noah..

There may be a youtube that talks about the 360.

There are several listed on ebay that might be of interest.
