I noticed my Cabela's card has a lot of points accumulated on it, pretty close to what I need for a Buck Guide Knife. I am specifically interested in the 345 Vantage. I have two standard issue 345 Vantage Buck's, one with a paperstone handle and the other with a rubbery synthetic (unknown to me). Both are standard versions with 420HC blades. I think the Cabela's knives are S30V and used to be coated - are they still coated and are they as good as they once were before Bass Pro Shops took over? Appreciate all opinions and especially anyone who has bought one of the current models. OH

Old Hunter Old Hunter I purchased a 347 Vantage AG from Cabela's (with points, awesome) this past summer. Other than the cerakote finish (older gun metal finishes are much more attractive) the fit and finish is as one would expect from Buck-superb. The S30V is exceptionally keen. I can post a couple detailed pics this evening if you like.

alaskan guide 345s now are the cerakoted. also yes s30v. I have one. it's okay for what it is. cerakote scratches over time and then eventually gets through to the steel. not overnight though. I wouldn't worry about it as a user. just scratches and then fails as a coating over time.

Not to derail this thread, but do the Alaskan guide models change yearly, or is it not something that is based on anything calendar-wise?

Old Hunter Old Hunter I've looked at that Vantage at Cabela's more than a few times. Very nice looking nice, so let us know what you think if you end up with one!

matthewtstock matthewtstock thanks a bunch for taking all the pictures and posting them! I have looked them over and it looks good to me. I have made a deal with a fellow Buck Forum member here and my knife will ship to me tomorrow from CO. As a bonus I get to keep my Cabela's points and use them for another purchase another day. Thanks for all the assistance (Matthew and everyone else that posted and messaged). OH

Not sure, but I have seen the 110 and 119 in the display cases many times over the years while in the stores. I’m sure I will take pictures and discuss it here once I start carrying it. OH

T timbits588 The AG knives do not follow any pattern I am aware of. Over the years, before Cabela's was acquired/ruined by BP, there were multiple models offered, some even in stag/elk scales. However, the selection has dwindled to just a few models more recently.

You can view a lot of the previous version in the SFO thread https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/a-salute-to-sfos-and-dealer-exclusives-lets-see-em.1755241/

and an older thread on the AGs https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/anyone-own-any-of-the-cabelas-alaskan-guide-bucks.1702261/
