I've been looking for an all stainless knife for pocket carry. I really would like to stick with Buck if possible, but their selection is a little limited in this type of knife. I was looking at pics of the Nobleman. Has anyone tried this knife? I probably wouldn't use the clip. Is it removable? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Yes, the clip is removeable with a torx key — I forget what size. The knife is made in China by a maker called SanRenMu, and it corresponds to SRM's 723, but with Buck's cosmetics. SRM also makes a smaller version, and Buck offers that as the Colleague, I think the name is.

I'm not 150% certain that SRM is the maker. But SRM's design was on the market first, then Buck's Chinese-made version appeared a year or so later. Guessing that SRM makes Buck's Nobleman doesn't seem like a stretch to me.

As regards any important differences in materials and manufacturing, I can't say. The SRM 723 is a nice knife, frame-locking, and opens easily and I'd expect the Buck version to do the same. I took the clip off my 723, so I can't tell you much about how it handles using a clip.

I have two of them. One in plain stainless, and one that is titanium coated. Both are great knives. The plain stainless one is sleeker, more smooth as far as opening goes. I also find it easier to remove when clipped to a pocket as well. The clip is removable, though I haven't personally done it. You need a torx key for it. There are two smaller versions of the Nobleman; the colleague, and the scholar. The colleague is basically an exact mini of the standard (no clip), but the scholar is mirror polished. I have those as well. I find them too small for normal carry.

I don't have the Nobleman, but I do have a Colleague, which is similar but smaller. I find it to be well made. Locks up solid. Holds an edge as well as my other Buck knives.

I hate to resurrect a thread for my first comment, but I'll venture on anyway. I carry a Nobleman as my edc, but recently lost one of the screws for the clip. Any ideas or recommendations as to where I can order/purchase replacement screws?

Thanks in advance.

Torx screws in many sizes are available at a large hardware store. Or a jewelry supply store. And you could probably find a properly threaded non-torx screw — a tiny Phillips head perhaps — that fits. Bring the knife to the store and see what fits.
