I have been hearing some good things about the Buck Omni Hunter. There are the 10pt and 12pt (small and large).
The prices are also very affordable. The talk is these new Buck blades are really value for money.
I was wondering if anyone has put these blades to some field tests and have first-hand information on the results.

Would you expand a little on what you've been hearing and from where? The folders, fixed blades or both? I have an interest in them and would appreciate whatever you have to share. Thanks

I got to handle all the Omni Hunters today in a knife store at the West Kentucky Oulet Mall in Eddyville, KY.

The 12pt. size folder is MASSIVE, makes a 110 look small. The 10pt size is much easier to handle. The fixed blades are nice also, the 10pt one would make a great Bushcraft knife, the 12pt size is really big, but would certainly get any job done!

Fit and finish was great, the DEEP drop point blades are cool, great hunting knives for sure.

The one catch for me on these, is the price. They are basically the same construction, 420HC blades and Zytell handles as the new Buck Bantam series, but are fully twice the price ofthe Bantam series. The Omni's are USA made, whereas the Bantam's are Tiawan made, but otherwise they are basically the same knives in the folder lines.

Both are well made, so I guess it just falls down to the buyer whether you want spearpoint/Tiawan or Drop point/USA and are willing to pay the difference.

Otherwise, you can't go wrong either way, they were all well made.

Thanks TLC, that helps me out. I've been thinking of getting one for my son and its clear now the 12pt would be too big for him.

Question: Do you recall if the folders had liners?

I don't remember them having liners, and yeah the 12pt one might be way to big for a child, I like big folders, but that one was huge.
