Hello,
I'm kinda looking at the Buck 290 (Rush) and was wondering what you guys that have one think of it. Any insight would be appreciated. thanks!!! Doug:)

While I don't have a Buck Rush...I have a set of 298GY Sirus with the same ASAP opening gizmo. Why two? Cause my name is Goose and I am a Buckaholic.
Sirusly, I got two because I liked it so much that I wanted a spare in case I lost one. So, given that I think the overall action, form, fit, and function of the Rush is similar to the Sirus...
I say, get it

Hello,

I have the Rush Model 291GY. And several other Buck knives.

The Rush is very nicely made, but it's quite small. I carry it around in my fanny pack. You only get 3 fingers on the handle.

I also have its big brother - the Tempest. It's much bigger.

Does that help?

Have Tempest and Rush also----the Rush is too small.

But keep in mind I'm not a fan of small knives at all---own the Rush--Mini Grip---Delica etc........one each to try them---they always get retired to the sock drawer---so I don't even look at little knives anymore.

Of course, "too small" is a subjective judgement. The Rush is the perfect size for the purpose it serves for me.

Hey, thanks for the replies so far. I do like small knives so this knife may be for me. I was kinda curious as to the build quality. I probably know the answer to this but would it stand up to edc?? Thanks, Doug:)

In a word...

YES!

Get one... and then a Tempest... then a 110... 112...882..... it carries on and on!

Build quality - I'm looking at mine right now.

The blade is centered in the handle when closed. The assisted open works real crisply. The blade locks open very tightly. The blade is very sharp.

It's quite light but feels solidly made. Should stand up to EDC.

Ok, I'm gonna head out to a local retailer right now to have a look at one. I called them and they say they have it, so.......... If they do and I like it, I'm gonna pick one up Tuesday or Wednesday. thanks for all the replies and help. Doug:)

Yes, it's always best to check it out for yourself.

One thing I would add - the knife is heavily skeltonized, to keep weight down. That makes it convenient to carry, but it might be uncomfortable to hold in your hand and use for extended periods. Since I rarely use it, the low weight is an advantage.

Let us know how you like it!
I have owned tempests, sirus's and a rush...
I loved them all, the rush opened super fast, well built knife, but the blade was just a hair too small for my preference.
Handle was comfy to me, safety worked great and the durability of the ASAP knives has been awesome for me!
I now EDC my 154CM tempest (for over a year) and it is still as good as the day I bought it!
Good luck!

J22Knife...
Is the Rush the same size as the Sirus?

The tempest (skeletonized frame?? lightening holes???)and the sirus(solid handles) have the same shape,
The rush is a tad smaller than these 2.
All three are great knives (IMHO)

definitely. That's what I used mine for, for a long time. I just decided to start carrying a bigger knife. If you prefer smaller knives for the convenience, you'll love the Rush.
