Buck SAWBY Filet Fillet Folder – Model 539 – 1988 - Rare - $100.00 - SOLD

This is a rare knife made only in 1988. There were probably less than 250 made.
This particular knife utilizes the Sawby front lock near the underside of the tang on the knife. This is not the more common 539 model with the lock on the back of the knife. These were discontinued very quickly because of the “supposed” chance that the lock could disengage with normal use of this knife. Rather than take the chance, Buck quickly discontinued this model as well as the other Sawby models they were making at about that time. Hence, there are very few of this model floating around out there.
Blade is tang-stamped "BUCK 539Ù U.S.A." on one side and tang-stamped "PAT. NO. 4,604,803" on the other side. The tang stamp suggests this knife was produced in 1988.

Blade length: 5 3/8”.
Handle type: Textured rubber handle over a brass frame
Handle length: 7 1/8”.
Handle thickness: 13/16”
Overall length: 12 5/8”.
Weight: 8.0 oz.
Blade thickness: 1/8”.
Blade width: 11/16”.
Knife is in mint shape – never used – never sharpened – never carried. Knife comes with the original blue cordura belt pouch – no box.
This is an extremely nice and rare collectible for the Buck collector.
