I'm selling my BG-42 881T to finance another knife. The 881T has a blade just under 3", so its pretty friendly for states that limit you to under 3" for carry. This one is very nice, I haven't carried it much at all, probably twice. Played with it a lot, but it has mostly sat around.
I have sharpened it on a sharpmaker, the edge Buck puts on these from the factory is pretty jagged, but its nice and smooth now. The BG42 really holds an edge well. I removed the pocket clip when I got it, but I still have the clip, original box, papers, and the clip screws are still in it. I added the camo lanyard. The G10 handles have a very grippy pattern to them.
It was pretty stiff on the action until pretty recently, I just had to keep opening it over and over to break it in. I had read that these knives need to be broken in before they open smoothly and it is the truth. It is pretty smooth now, about 10x better than when I got it a few months back. Not quite as smooth as the ATS34 881T I sold a few weeks ago, but it is getting there. That one felt like it practically fell open, but it was just as tight as this one. I think the PB washers they use in these just get better and better with use.
There is a few small scratches on the coated blade, probably from the sharpmaker from when I wasn't paying close enough attention.
Lockup is like a tank. I cannot imagine a tighter lockup than these Buck/Striders.
The blade is marked "1st Production Run" and "485/500" on one side, and "BG42" and the BOS heat treat stamp on the other.
$140 $130 $120 shipped, USPS Priority with DC. Paypal only, US only. Thanks,
schiesz
