I would like to know where I can buy this knife and what kind of knife it is. https://www.google.com/search?hl=en...7987%2Fvanguard9308ou6.jpg;http%3A%2F%2Fwww.b I know it is a vanguard 192, But I don't know if it is the mini 192 vanguard, or a normal 192 vanguard. I am looking for a normal size 192 vanguard buck knife with this handle exactly - ( The red wood handle, One might call it cherry-wood ) but I'm not sure, I just know I am looking for the exact one in the link. Only recently did I find out they made a mini at one point. So my question is what is that knife I posted in the link, 192 Vanguard mini or a regular 192 vanguard. I also noticed it looks like it says 192-1 instead of just 192 on the blade. So in short is the knife in the link a normal 192 vanguard, a mini 192 vanguard, a custom normal size vanguard? And does the regular size 192 vanguard come with that red woodish like handle seen in my link, thanks.

Hi BKIL,

That is a standard 192, that is not a dash 1 it's a side ways T. A side ways T is the date stamp for the year 2006. Buck Vanguard 192's are sold all over the place, got take a look at one of the on-line auction sites and you will find what you want.

Don't worry about getting a mini.....they are very rare....just send it to me if you do and I'll send you a bigger one in return. I believe they were a special order made for Bass Pro Shops about 5 or 7 years ago.

Yeah I like rare things but I wasn't looking for the mini anyhow. now that I know it's just a normal 192 I can look for that, my favorite colors are red and black, and I have the most dark wood grain version ( closest to black ) and am looking for the red one to complete the pair. I'll call the red one cherry-wood until I find out otherwise.

If you like red and black ,hace a look at cabelas, they sell a rosewood colored vanguard with a black coated s30v blade, its a sweet knife!red n black~!

You rock man thank you for the quick reply. There seems to be a ton of different handle colors, many similar. Would you call the color of the one I am looking for rosewood color?

The one in your picture link appears to me to be the standard cocobola dymondwood, not rosewood. I have a couple of those and they aren't "red". I've seen "red" (cherrywood dymondwood) somewhere, just don't recall where.

Now that I think about it, I may be wrong about that and the cherrywood handles I'm thinking about were on the 103 Skinner.

I can't find the 192 in the picture anywhere for some reason.

 What picture are you refering to?

If this is the "red" you're looking for, it's the cocobola dymondwood. Although this is a Zipper, they are the same and the cocobola handled model is a standard catalog item.

I have seen a brownish walnut handle, black walnut handle, very light brown tan color idk what to call it. But yet can I find this ( cocobolo ) handled one for sale, from retail or person.

There have been numerous "buildouts" and "Special Projects" Vanguards over the years using several different woods in the handles.

That's odd. I just found at least one on the most popular auction site. I then went on line and without exception, every knife dealer I checked (about six so far) have the cocobola model.

well I think what we are calling cocobolo is two different handles, they look very close. I'd agree that it is most likely probably some special project vanguard. I can find the one in your picture if that is the real cocobolo. I just cant find the one in mine. Thanks for your help by the way.

Don't forget that the lighting when taking the photo can change the look of the color of the knife. I just went through the entire special projects list and the only cherry or rosewood handled 192's I found had either an etched blade or a cutout in the blade.
