Hi Folks,

I recently came across a bunch of knives that were still sealed in their plastic packaging and this BuckTool 360 was also in the stuff.
Question is if I should leave this sealed up or is it such a good tool that it needs to be opened up and used? Anyone know by the packaging how old this is?
Thanks for any help.

Couldn't tell you how old it is but if you can't decide what to do with it you could always send it to me :)

Seriously though, if you like MTs (like I do) and think you could enjoy using it, open that baby up and carry it! If you think it'll just collect dust anyway I'd just sell it. Seems to me there are enough of them still out there to keep them from being super valuable. But I haven't seen a whole lot still in the package, so that might bump up the value a little for the right person.

Either way, it's a cool find. Thanks for sharing!

I'm a big Buck fan and they have a value to collectors out there. May be worth it to post one for sale here to see the going rate as it may be enough for you to buy another one you like better.

The Bucks are good tools, bit odd with the pivoting handle, but well made and I enjoy mine.

If you do opt to sell please let me know.

So I wonder, did SOG make the tools, License the patent to Buck, or was there never a patent on the para-tool? seems very close, but maybe there is a difference I'm not seeing?

It gets the job done. It can be tricky at first when using the screwdriver or flathead. It will want to open when turning.

I regret not buying any of the Buck multitools. A couple of shops around here carried them.

Buck uses a marking system to show the year of production, at least they do on their folding knives. A little symbol as part of the tang stamp that changes yearly.

I don't know if they did that with their multitools, it might be worth checking out.

I'm a hoarder and a user, so I'd open it and try it out.

Did BUCK not use this design first ?
Sog still makes the paratool which might make me think it came out later but I'm probably wrong.

My bad, para-tool head folds out the side, where as the buck the handles fold out opposite each other. Para-tool designed by Blackie Collins by the way. Things you learn.

Buck 360 1996

If you're going to sell it at some point, it will definitely be worth more in the unopened package. It looks like even the packaging is in great shape!
