EXETER, England (Reuters) -- Muppets Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant Beaker defeated Dr. Strangelove, Dana Scully of "X Files" fame and Star Trek's Mr. Spock to be voted Britain's favorite screen scientists on Monday.

They beat their closest rival by a margin of 2 to 1 and won 33 percent of the 43,000 votes cast in an Internet poll.

"They're the kind of scientists you would like to be but never quite dared to," said Alan Slater, a scientist at the University of Exeter in southwestern England.

Cool!

I really miss the Muppet Show.

The band was the best! Can't beat a band of muppets modeled after the Blues Brothers Band. :)

Another triumph for the men from Muppet Labs! Hard to believe they beat Sherman and Mr. Peabody and their Wayback Machine.

Possibly because nobody has heard of Mr Peabody and their Wayback Machine :)

Both Mr. Peabody and Commander McBragg have British accents. They must've had to move to the states to gain fame and fortune.

Who are those people again? ;)

Well...of the ten contestants on the list, I would have voted for Bunsen and Beaker. But they left off my first choice - the multitalented Professor John Frink from The Simpsons.

Dana Scully is the the kind of scientist I would like to be (with). On screen, off screen, preferrably involved in some undercover research! (Silly Brits! :p )

One of my earliest memories is of sitting on my dad's lap watching the Muppet Show. And Bunsen and Beaker were always two of my favorites...

That said, I prolly would'a voted for Frink, too :p

Beaker and Honeydew were great. Though I still like Sherman and Peabody :)
The corny Rocky & Bullwinkle shows are definitely worth watching again.
There goes my weekend!

We used to start our local Rocky Horror shows by playing that opening sequence :D
