Burn Ban

Clay County, where I happen to live, has just declared a burn ban. I haven't checked, but I'm fairly sure that this involves my forge, which is very irritating to my weekend plans.
What I'm wondering is, how do we find out what our local laws are in regards to fire, or even some of our industrial tools? I know my shop isn't all legal, but knowing what to fix/hide would be a good thing, I think.
Any ideas are welcome.

Oz. I think you're safe with your forge. They issue these things whenever we get a dry spell down here. Just dont go off buring yard debris and you should be fine. Unless of course you use a pit in the ground filled with yard debris for a forge that is....

just to be safe, you might wanna check with the local Fire dept.

Oz,

Here where I live the Fire dept is volunteer and I have called the fire chief and let him know what and when I was burning. Sometimes you can be given a fire permit. I think they just want to make sure there are enough Firemen around to respond if need be. I know it is a lot easier in a small town like mine to get help than in a lot of big cities because I know everyone here.

Heck yea I invented it ...What is it???
I only do what the voices in my wifes head tell me to do.
It's kinda like hangin, you never get used to it.

I would recommend checking with local fire/environmental/zoning dept. or what ever as
to what is and is not legal for your shop.
BUT DO NOT SAY “I want to make sure my shop/forge, ect is in compliance with the
regulations/laws”.
Depending on where you are this can bring an instant inspection and a red tag or order to
cease operations.
YOU DO WANT TO SAY “ I am going set up a shop, forge, ect and want to make sure I
do it to code.

I found out last winter that coal fires are prohibited in town, open or in a stove/forge.
And for me to run my propane forge inside it has to have a auto shutoff that can detect a
flame out.
So check your local laws
But be careful how you do it.

Hey Oz,

I too live with constant burn bans. Mr Schott is correct. Check your local laws, but be careful how you go about it. E-mail soon, I miss your forge info and advice
