Ok I just received my new BR and it's a pretty sweet knife for sure. It does have a few sharp edges on it though and I believe I could strike a fire steel pretty easy on the thumb locking button if need be. The knife is very well built. I'm a folder with liners type guy though I guess as I do wish it had steel liners and maybe a steel or ti back spacer. Other than these personal knife specs which I prefer I do like the knife very much. Oh! now what would be even cooler would be a 5" or 6" BR with the specs I mentioned, anyway we can dream I guess.

I think those are great knives. Congratulations! Every once in a while I think about getting one, but other things invariably move ahead of it in the "to buy" list. As to no liners, the Cold Steel G10 knives are extremely tough. Andrew Demko once stood on either an American Lawnman or Recon 1 spanned across a couple of supports to demonstrate durability.

I'll have to see if I can look that video up. I'm sure it's a tough knife and seems to be very well made, blade centered everything nice and tight no play. I guess I've gotten so used to carrying a 4" blade that the blade does seem a little stubby but still nice and stout. It feels good in the pocket as well. Thanks for the info and sorry for no pics but my computer is giving me fits.

I recently got a Bush Ranger and love it. The G10 is pretty thick so no worries without steel liners. Even with American Lawman with super thin G10 is plenty strong, so the BR is good to go!

How are the clip screws attached, screwed directly into the G10? Can they be removed to take off the clip or to mount the clip on the other side?

It looks like you can mount the clip on either side, and it looks like they screw into the back spacer I believe. I haven't tried taking it apart though. It is a well made knife and there is a good review on the BR in the knife review forum, with some nice pics and all.

Part of the magic of the Triad lock is that it doesn't need liners to be ridiculously strong. That said, I thought the Bush Ranger had recessed stainless steel liners? I am probably wrong though.

The G10 version is a very underrated knife, one of the best CS folder IMO.

Things i'd like to change in the G10 model however:
- Thumbstud instead of thumb plate, like the cheap plastic China version. This allows better batoning and easier deployment. The thumbplate is known to snap off during batoning.
- Thinner G10 handle. This handle is slightly too thick. If they would make it Recon 1 thickness or Swift, it'll make it much easier to pocket.
- Spear/drop point blade will be more useful for EDC tasks with its lower tip. This is just personal preferance.

Exactly! One of the overlooked fact about Triad lock. It's not just about absolute strength, it's about strength with minimal weight. The Bush Ranger never had any steel liners though. The G10 handle is THICC enough. It might be one of the thickest G10 CS folder ever.

 Yeah , but just don't hit the thumb stud or drive it into the wood being worked and it won't break ! :)

Easier said than done. It's like saying "just don't drive recklessly and you'll not get into accident".:oops::rolleyes:o_O:p:D:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup::confused::mad:;);):);):cool:
It's hard to control a shorter blade when you drive it into the wood. I have many years of experience batoning CS folders("right tool for the job" people shedding tears now), for thick wood the thumb plat/stud will hit it easily. My point is, thumbstud is much stronger especially for "bush" like activities that this knife is apparently named for.

Here's an example, this dude baton with his Colossus and broke his thumb plat screw:

Nothing easier than waving out of pocket . ;)

Easier to deploy with your hand :thumbsup::confused::thumbsup::p:D:eek:o_O

IMO , can't imagine why you'd need to baton with these knives except in an emergency / survival situation . In which case you accept the damage done . Knife is still fully functional without the thumb plate .

Plenty of much better fixed and folders already exist for this purpose .

I've used the wave opening function on folders thousands of times, but never once needed to baton .

Different strokes different folks ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I happened to have the need to split wood and i happened to only collect folder, and i happened to have a folder that i spent the last 5 years batoning.

I also have never run into a situation where i need to wave open my knife(i also collect a lot of emerson and spyderco waves).

Not trying to change your mind, seems like you got what works for you. You do you, i do me :thumbsup:

I just got a BR and have another on the way.

Personally I love the thickness of the handle, and the 3-D contouring. It makes the knife even more comfortable in hand.

I think the pocket clip would be a bit better if the knife sat about 1/4 inch deeper in the pocket, but not a big deal.

The thumb plate is kinda awkward for me as well, I am not a fan of the wave feature.

I am also happy it does not have liners. They tend to get moisture trapped behind them, and are not as easy to clean as straight G10.

Overall, the knife is an absolute joy and it has accelerated straight to the top 10 of the smattering of folders that get carried the most in my rotation.

Well it seems like most like it and I see why it is a slick little knife. I'd like maybe some nice roughed up a bit Ti handle slabs instead of liners actually, but that would definately cost more $. I've carried my all stainless spyderco police for over three decades so a little weight is no big deal.

I kind of wish the blade was a little longer also as it seems stubby to me. I guess it is what it is a nice little lighter weight tough as nails folder with good steel and no coating. I still like it like most here we just all kind of like our own little personal touches done to our blades.

Congrats, I'm really liking that Lawman knife, but it seems like they want a lot for them for being a smaller knife. I'll keep looking for one at a good price and hopefully get lucky one day.

Ok I think the wifey may use this one against me as I just found and ordered a Lawman in s35 and I kind of wasn't supposed too. Hmm! I think I need to purchase a piece of jewelry that should help, or see a doctor for my problem.....Not!! :D
