Random question. I used to be able to lurk at bushcraftusa but for the past few months all the topics seem to be private. I even tried to join and can't seem to get that to work either. Anyone know why? Thanks

I know you can see more things once you are registered. Maybe they recently changed to see even less without a membership. I dont know why it wont let you register. New people register all the time. If you are trying to join on a phone maybe try a computer. Or see if you can find an email to ask them. The mods and owner are very active over there.

They changed just about all of the topics to "private" when some folks tried to hack into the system.
You should be able to register unless you have an old account that has been unused...?

Just register and all sub forums should be visible. For just lurking only the edged tools area is visible. Not sure why there would be any issues doing it from a tech standpoint but no master of the internet.

I just signed in, and other than the paid subscriber and for sale forums, it all seems open

They banned me years ago over a post I did about starting fires in really wet conditions, still to this day don't get why I was banned ! 😟

You should look through you're old posts with fresh eyes now some time has passed and it may become clearer to you.

I can give you the main points:

You know that as handsome and charismatic as you are thinking isn't exactly one of your strengths. And that when you make bold claims that are challenged you go a bit kinda peculiar. Well that's the cause.

You posted on that site about how it was impossible to make fire under certain conditions. You were challenged on that 'cos some members there could. At that point it would have worked out better for you to have wound your neck in, been a bit more humble, and learned something from folks with superior skills. Alas you didn't.

It got ugly soon after. They pointed out that as nice as it is you don't actually do a great deal of outdoor stuff apart from a quick dog walk and a pause for a moment to play with knives and mebe light a 2 minute fire. By contrast some of those guys actually stay outdoors, under canvas, in sleeping bags, not just every few years but some even weekly. At that point there was an epic ego malfunction and they banned you for your behaviour.

You immediately came here and posted about it. That really didn't help either A] because you forgot that Jason was a long term member here and could post. And that he had an immaculate reputation here dating back to a previous time that I was a member of this forum. So when he copied and pasted what was said here, and it didn't accord with your version of the truth that should have been embarrassing for you and informative for everyone else. [bit like when you said you had never seen a broken Busse kin after you had posted in a thread with a broken one in the witty quip “make it snappy”, but much worse]. B] you were also warned off about porting in cross forum drama.

Frankly I don't care about BCUSA. I don't go there. I wish cancer on some of them and others should be in jail. Never more so that when they go on about sticking razor blades in frozen blocks of blood so canids will lick them like a lolly, slice their tongues and bleed to death. Scum of the earth. So I'm not taking their side in this, I just don't like BS. So if you want to pick at this scab again let's have it right, innit.

You'd do well to leave this one alone.

Hahaha..........Interesting perspective but definitely not as I remember it. I was inundated with messages saying how I was bullied by the clicky group over there. I just found the whole thing quite bizzare but as someone told me over here recently.....choose the campfires you talk around carefully!

Ps. Never wish cancer on anyone buddy, I'm in remission right now and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Don't let it bother you Pit. I was never banned, but I was piled on twice basically over the same issue. Two of my posts were see as indirect slights toward custom knife makers, when nothing could be more from the truth. Some sites/forums are clannish and if you deviate too far from their core value system you are deemed 'other'. It's the net bud, and we are not always dealing with beacons of mental health. You could be conversing with the quiet dentist that takes his family on vacation every year, or just as easily a prepper (or multiples of them) masturbating to their AK-47 shrine covering the wall of their basement bunkers. The more of a life we have, the less this stuff means to most of us.

Oh it doesn't bother me in the least buddy, nothing can kick me as hard as life has, forums are just for fun !

Ironically either of them might be cool or be a douche on an online forum.

BushcraftUSA is like any other online forum, it needs to be taken with a grain of salt. I still go over there, but don't bother posting much. They seem to have fewer threads that interest me than they used to have.

Pitdog's posts are always a good read. No keyboard jockey for sure. I like Bladeforums and Bushcraft USA. Never had a problem with moderators or the majority of posters on either forum.

I got booted for posting a review of a JK knife on my very first post.

Arent review sections for, well, reviews...?

That right there was enough to send me away without looking back.

They may have perceived your review as spam as your first post was a review not an introduction or anything else. I have posted reviews both on Bladeforums and Bushcraft USA and have never been moderated for doing so. It could be a misunderstanding? Don't know as prefer the woods to internet drama. LOL!

edit.

On a side note what was the knife as now curious?
