Any recommendations for hard sided pocket business card holders? Definitely looking for something slim and of course those that will shoot a card across the room are cool! Well maybe thats not necessary but...I guess I would be happy with something thin enough to feel ok in a pocket and not look to flashy. Thanks for your input!

Coach and Dooney & Burke (sp?) make good business professional models. Don't expect to find them at your local shopping mall "up scale" stores. Everytime I asked about Coach, I was shown women's purses and told they didn't make anything for men.

I have a Coach business card holder. Coach's stock in trade is leather goods. You will find that the leather Coach business card holder is a bit thicker then your average card holder. It holds quite a few cards, and a good place for it is in my briefcase.

A thinner, i.e. metal one is better for carrying in your pocket. Unfortunately, I have not found any really good metal ones. Most of them are pretty cheap, around $10 to $20. I'd be willing to pay more for a really nice one, but I haven't found one. The $20 ones are stamped metal.

Levengers: classy leather, a variety of different types.

The Container Store: Rigid plasticky fiber things that fold up and have a cord around them to keep them shut. Hard to describe but a lot like a minature file or banker's envelope. Best aspect: $1.50 each

FLAX: wicked cool little metal jobbies, look better than they work 'cause they can get "flattened"

Finally, someone else here will know the manufacturer, but it is actually a credit card case that is waterproof rigid plastic, like an Otter box or Pelican case. Slim and tiny and definitely anti-executive. Also, the smallest size Otterbox works well as a "wallet"

May want to check for a foldable cigarette case at a smoke shop. Mine's metal, takes 9-10 on a side with an elastic band to hold 'em in. They make a dandy holder until your high-end stuff arrives.

I have one of these FINE card holders from Dalvey of Scotland and I LOVE it. I receive more compliments when I use this card case than I would have ever imagined. I use my card case at least 5x a day and receive a minimum of a comment a day. Stylish, classy and does it's job - keeps my cards crisp and neat and not folded.

How about Tiffany's if you would like it in metal.

Sterling Silver Business card case

I would also second or third that recommendation for the coach card hold. They make nice products. Although it is hard to find a coach store that has the men's products too. I've only actually seen one out of like 4 or so locations.

Sid Post, thanks for the info, the coach is definitely classy looking but I think I want something hard, not leather.

Bob HWD and W.S. DeWeese thanks for the advice. Quality is definitely an issue.

J&J13, good suggestion thanks, but I have something that isn't quite perfect already.

Daniel, haha :), I don't see pulling that out at a meeting and keeping a straight face. Funny though. Now titanium would be cool... I'll keep my eye out!

Sproles/David, I have been looking at that very case for a good hour today and I think it may be the case for me. I think it looks excellent and seems to have no chance of getting crushed. How do you carry it, in a pants pocket or suit jacket/shirt pocket? Does the lid stay closed well? Is it comfortable? Where did you purchase it? (PM me if its not cool to post dealer info) I can't quite read it but it looks like the one on Ebay has an inscription... that would be sort of lame unless it was "your the best, love Meg Ryan" or something like that. :D

I was also looking at these three below (one is another Dalvey product!)

This one looks very nice also however I think an all metal one like the one Sproles linked to would be easier to slip into a pocket, leather just doesn't slide well.

This one looks pretty cool. Very different. Maybe a bit too different...

This is the last horse in the race for now. Pretty nice looking, simple. My only concern might be the craftsmanship, its a bit cheaper than the rest.

I appreciate your input! Thanks and keep it coming (especially you David, I want to hear more about that Dalvey case!

Oh one more post... Chrono, I think I'll have a hard time selling the $50 or so for these I'm considering now... But I'm accepting donations!!! just kiddin... thanks for the suggestion.

akwormy-

I received mine from my in-laws when they visited Scotland. I cannot speak on any retailers here in the US.

I'm a pharmaceutical sales rep and I wear a suit everyday. I carry mine in my jacket pocket. When I carry outside of work, I put it in my back pocket and it rides well. The lid stays closed with no problem. When I have needed to adjust it, you simply press on the lid alittle (narrow section) to make it slightly smaller/tighter and that resolves any opening/closing problems.

I think that you will be very happy with this case and it will serve you well for years. I have carried mine for at least 5 years and it gets better with age. The first scratch was a tought one, but after that - they grow on you.

Good luck and let me know what you end up doing.

I have the same Dalvey card holder as Sproles. Picked it after doing a long search for a classy card holder. And I do get a lot of compliments about it and also "where did you buy that?". Ordered mine from the Dalvey website direct.

On mine the lid closes securely. Overall construction is sturdy (it's stainless steel I believe) and no chance of cards getting crushed. The sides/edges are rounded so it's nice to hold, easy to slip into a pocket and no worries about it tearing a hole or poking you. A nice touch is the bit of foam at the top and bottom of the card holder to cushion your cards (helps keep them pristine).

After some looking around and hearing your comments I gave in and ordered one of those Dalvey cases. Now I'm waiting for the post office to show up and then I'll be styling.

I ended up ordering mine from Stanely London http://www.stanleylondon.com (located in southern california) Haven't received it yet however they sent me an email the same day I ordered it and one the next day with a tracking number. Pretty excellent service so far.

Also picked up a cool flask/cigar holder check it out. http://www.stanleylondon.com/cigar.htm (I just couldn't pass it up!)

Haven't received my order yet but I'm already planning my next backpacking trip to try out the flask/cigar holder! Thanks for all the suggestions.

I received my new business card holder a few weeks ago but haven't had a chance to post.

I reallly like the looks and function of the Dalvey case. The lid was a touch loose but the quick pinch that Sproles mentioned fixed that.

I must say that when I first opened the package I thought it was freaking huge!!! It is a little bit bigger than a business card is (of course it has to be) but the thing just seems huge at first.

Thanks for the recommendations I'm very happy with the purchase. It looks great, is comfortable, and of course it protects my cards and lets me show a touch of class when I hand them out. It really makes the people pulling cards out of their shirt pocket or wallet look tacky and unprofessional.

I guess thats all, thanks again!

Thanks for the small review akwormy. Added this small item to my "to shop for work" list. Will buy one when I know exactly in what field I will be doing my work.

good attitude colinz!!! one of those things almost everyone could use... by the way I picked up a cool cigar holder/flask combo while I was shopping on the Stanley of London website and got a chance to try it out last weekend on a backpacking trip. Unique and kind of cool but not much of a flask, barely a shot!!!

thats it for now...
the worm!

I have the Dalvey case as well. It does scratch up fairly quickly, but everyone does seem to be impressed. Glad I put my initials on it.

No, it is not my auction. I figured that someone must make a titanium business card case, but I can't find one.

Daniel

$53 for that thing? I got mine for $15 because I own one of their laptop cases. Best darned laptop case I've ever owned, I'm about 270lbs or so, and I can use the case as a stepstool without damage.
