Busse Collector

Just discovered Busse Collector.com. Great resource for a newbie like me.

I agree.

Make sure to check out the "Links" section. Specifically the "The Internet Archive". You can look at all the original posting at "http://www.bussecombat.com". Great history.

Thanks, glad you like it! The best way to track down the original Busse Combat Webpages on the way back machine website (aka Internet Archive under links) is to use the last column of the catalog and cross reference it to the correct year.

Feel free to contact me directly anytime with any quesitons you might have and welcome to the obsession.

Hey Bravado and Greg. What I liked about the Busse Collector site was the table showing the specs. for each blade. I learned that the Meaner Streets is "meaner" because it is longer, not thicker, which is what I originally thought. I was also able to easily compare models in which I have had an interest but have been unable to buy. Being able to easily compare different model is great.

I'm not sure I have a Busse obsession though. For years, I have really liked the original Mean Streets and also like the Active Duty. However, neither are availabe except on the secondary market and, thus far, I've been unable to justify the cost. If they are ever offered again by Busse at a reasonable cost, I may try to grab one.

Thanks for your work guys.

They are making a come back on the BCS (www.bussecompanystore.com) for the original cost. Also the secondary market is very close to cost right now, check out the exchange. I think there are a few floating around right now, I believe there is even a heavy duty out there if you look hard.

Greg

PS: I put the catalog together for just that reason, I'm glad it works for you as well!

I checked the store and saw the Badger Attack and Game Warden. At the moment, I'm shopped (AKA tapped) out. Just bought a second Ontario TAK and my first Swamp Rat....the M6 last week.

Regarding the secondary market, I guess I have some philosophical aversion to perpetuating the mass purchase of knive and then turning around and socking it to other forumites. I know it's allowed by those who could stop it, but this practice, like life sometimes, seems unfair.

Getting back to your website, do you know if there is a similar site that compares the Busse line to the Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard lines? I wonder if there is a Swamp Rat version of the Active Duty for example. I think there may be some similarities among the companys' products.

Thank,

Bill

I'm not aware of a Swamp Rat "collectors" site, but I believe there are some folks out there with a similar "catalogs" for Swamp Rat knives. If you could get your hands on one of the copies you could just cross reference it yourself.

Regarding the second hand market for Busse, some folks buy just one or two Busse's with the intent on keeping them, then something that interests them more comes along and opt to sell it in favor of the other. There are some ADs on the exchange for $215, which I believe was the store price. I don't believe those were purchased to make a profit.

The major difference for me with Busse knives (with the exception of the ss4) is the INFI steel, I just love it.

Greg...GREAT job on the site. How long did it take you to put this together??

Initially I just complied the information for myself as a piglet in training; I went through every page of the Internet Archives, I exchanged many emails with Fatfog, Mercmaster and many other enthusiasts. I had the bulk of the raw data in the first two weeks, then I put up the first version of the site (different layout) in about a weeks time, so three weeks by this point. Then it crashed  and it took about a week to rebuild from scratch  . So I guess a total of four weeks upfront and about a half day to a day a week for maintenance ;)

I also answer alot of emails from piglets looking to get into Busse knives and a fair amount of people asking my opinion on current market values, but thats the fun part!
