Butterfly knives, addiction?

I've been carrying my BM42 a bit more at work lately and find that it's harder to leave at home....just the fun and sound of it is very addicting to me, different openings and all.

Then I thought about the other knives and heck Anyone can push a button or thumb a blade open, but it takes some work to become proficient at working the butterfly knife!

I am working on a couple guys at work and getting them into it a bit as well.

AND I just ordered a Dobruski which should be ready in a few months, stag inserts, with much thanks to a friend on the forums helping me in getting the funds down to South America.

These are some of the best designed knives anywhere!

Just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way?

Still learning! can't get those finger twirls down very well...yet!

HELL yeah!

There hasn't been a day in my 11 months since I've picked one up that I haven't flipped. It pains me that I can't bring them to school, as the desire to flip comes randomely, and it comes strong. thank god for my keychain bali.

Hell yes it's an addictiong.... It eats away at me all day at school, knowing that my knife is waiting in my pocket asking to be flipped... I remember one night when i broke my pin and didn't have a nail to fix it... I almost wanted to start up smoking to get another habbit ; )-

Off-topic:
Darth, in response to the question you raised in an earlier thread, I looked through NH's laws. To the best of my knowledge, the state doesn't have a law prohibiting balis. Of course, your school most likely has its own rules against knives.

addiction? just because the wife asks how come you don't play with or handle me as much as that knife, that don't mean I'm addicted do it

Addicting? Oh yeah! One of the first things I do after school is reach for my Bali. Few things are as rewarding as nailing each day's first toss. Just be careful in the morning before the first cup o' joe.

almost as expensive as a dope habit, that's for sure.

I remember the old days, when about 8 of us would be together, playing AD&D...and 8 balisongs being flipped around the whole time.Or,the times when a few of us were sitting around watching TV,holding a slice of pizza with one hand, and flipping a balisong with the other. Then there were the times we'd pile into a friend's car to go cruising around town...and everyone would be flipping a bali (even the driver, until we started the rule that the driver had to keep both hands on the wheel).

But none of that can be considered "addicted",can it?

Balisongs are, by far, the most powerful addiction I've ever had. I'm looking at it right now and I wish I could type better with one hand.

The worse part about it, is that its harder to get people to understand than if I were hooked on crack.

MacCanine - AD&D huh? D&D makes you a nerd... But AD&D makes you an Uber-nerd.

Hehe, why do you think that we are here? most of us are addicted, balis are just so fun.
And i agree that everyone can push a button, but everyone isn't skilled in bali flippin'

(that doesn't mean that auto's aren't fun!)
This is one of my longest lasting addiction, been on to it since i was around 11-12 and it just keeps ticking! (i'm 29 now). And, i got the scars to prove it...

O.T. part of response:

Blasto,I am a contradiction in many ways to many terms

AD&D was something I happened to get into, thanks to my natural love for things Medieval (even as a pup,I felt a natural draw to that period in time).

And now for the on topic part:

As soon as I first held & flipped a balisong,I knew I was hooked for life.I've always loved weaponry that takes skill to use,and balisongs rank "way up there" on my list of skilled weaponry.
Being a drummer since my puppyhood, until the balisong entered my life, all I had to twirl between my fingers were my drumsticks. For a long time,I ended up twirling the balisongs instead...almost to the point of me forgetting how to do some of my stick twirls (some of which I turned into balisong manipulations).
And if carrying 7 or 8 balisongs on my person all at the same time *every* day (at one point in time) isn't considered "addicted",I'd like to know what is

At most I carry two BM42s at work, along with a few normal knives for when the time calls for them.

Much fun for sure! Flipping dual knives gets some attention but I'm always sure of who is watching and try not to draw the wrong looks from the BAD people....

Addiction? Is it addiction if you will pass up food, water, sleep, work, sex, personal hygene, etc. just to search for more?

Is it addiction when your wife is wondering where the stash of money you were saving for a tax payment is gone, but all you can talk about is this sweet damascus custom that you are having made?

Is it addiction when you can't even afford a little wacky weed, so you get stressed out and stomp around the house when someone *(DARES)* to outbid you on an auction?

I've decided that when I die, I'm taking all of them with me. I'm going to weld my own coffin/cage out of all my knives.

I just went down to Subway for some dinner, and had a BM42 and PC68 in my inverted V sheath, a Manila Folder in my right pocket, a kneck knife, A linerlock folder, and a little customized Valor Warrior in my bag.

Addicted? Balisongs, the anti-drug!

I had to become a martial artist and a school owner so that I can go to work and sometimes even get paid to use my balisong

AD&D makes you an UBER-nerd? Im playing 3rd Edition tomorrow (7th level rogue) Im also in a Mage; The Ascension campaign and I also do LARPs and some Amateur acting.

On topic: The first day I held a balisong I was hooked. Its not an addiction though according to some because Im never going to have sex with a knife nor am I going to marry it, or stick it in my vein. And if I ever smoke it...well LOL
