Buying a knife in Berlin (Germany)

Hello.

My first post on this excelent forum. I have been a member for a little while, but now i thougt it was time to start posting. So, I am leaving for a trip to Berlin in october, and I was wondering if anybody know of a place where I can look at (there will of course be some buying also :rolleyes:) some Boker knives in Berlin. Other knives would of course also be of interrest.

You could check out a shop called Wiedenhoff Stahlwaren. It's located right in the center of former West-Berlin at the Europa-Center (10789 Berlin / Tel. 0 30 2 61 27 30 / open Mo-Fr 10.00-19.00, Sa 10.00-16.00). They offer a large range of knives made by German manufacturers like Boker, Klaas and Linder including some exquisite and hard to get pieces. Prices for German knives are ok.

They also carry a large selection of kitchen knives from Japan and Germany and some US brands like Cold Steel, CRTK, Al Mar, Sog, Spyderco etc. Prices for the US knives are simply outrageous compared to what you can get them for at online shops.

If you are interested in kitchen knives, Holzapfel is another place to go. Their main store is in Berlin Kreuzberg, Bergmannstr. 25, 10961 Berlin (Tel./Fax: +49 (0)30 78990610/11). You can check them out here:

They mostly offer high end production knives and some customs. Unfortunately, their prices are much too high for my liking.

The Bergmannstrasse itself is worth a visit. Lots of bars and trendy shops can be found there.
