Hey guys,
So I was thinking about buying a spyderco paramilitary 2 after hearing so many great reviews on it. And after a quick price comparison, I have found the cheapest prices to be on eBay. Sellers like ohyaknives and supreme solution are selling it for 20 dollars cheaper than other retailers(around 100 bucks). So are they reliable , or are they selling fake ones. Should I spend the extra 20 Bucks and get from Amazon or something???
Thanks

I know paras sometimes have issues with fakes. However I buy knives on eBay all the time. I usually try and check their feedback to see if someone else purchased a similar item. Most recently I bought the zt Emerson 620cf I paid 189.99 and its new. Bladehq had them for 240. Just be careful do your research.

When discussion revolves around buying and not a specific knife, it does not belong in General knife Discussion. If you want to buy a legitimate item, shop where you can be confident there are legitimate products. You may have to pay a couple bucks more, but you get better customer service and peace of mind that your item is real.

Dsun: Ohyasales and supremesolution are A+ sellers on eBay. I have bought tons of knives from them both, along with unitedoutdoors, poorfish and the other big boys. Supremesolution is probably my #1 vendor. No worries. I look at Amazon and the big sellers on eBay for the lowest prices.

Be especially careful with PM2S and other spyderco... seems like they are one of the bigger targets for counterfeit

It is safest to buy from one of the online sellers that is a sponsor of bladeforums.com, and they have good prices and good service as well.

Good to know about Dsun: Ohyasales and supremesolution.

I have also seen some pretty good knife prices on eBay. I am not sure about any sellers in particular, so I cannot comment on that. The Spyderco PM2 is one of those knives with a ton of fakes out there, so if I were to buy one on eBay, I would make sure I knew enough about the knife to detect the clones. If you did happen to get stuck with a clone, eBay will make it right, so I wouldn't worry too much.

One always has to be careful when buying off Ebay and often the wiser decision is to pay a little more and be sure a get the real thing and in the condition you expected. You need to be very familiar with the product you are buying, otherwise you are depending on luck.
Buying from authorized dealers(BF dealers work) can be the smarter decision-at best you might save a few bucks with Ebay , but then again you might loose all the bucks. It doesn't hurt your re-sale either, when you can say original owner purchased from authorized dealer.

Whenever we see a thread asking 'Is this PM2 real'???? The person ALWAYS has purchased the knife on eBay or Amazon.
Is it really worth it to save $20??
If peace of mind costs me $20 I'm spending it. Especially if I am looking to buy one of the most counterfeited knives on the planet. Counterfeit clones of sprint runs are beginning to show up now too.
The dealers here will provide you with the best personal customer service ever. You will be able to reach them by phone with any questions or concerns. That alone is worth an extra few bucks.
Good luck!

Powernoodle beat me to it. I have purchased multiple knives from Supremesolution, no problem. Two specifically that I recall, I did it after see how much the supporting vendors here were asking. What pushed me over the edge was that I saw a few of these knives up on the Exchange used for more than what SS was selling new. I'm all for community support (I've spent thousands with supporting vendors here), but sometimes, you just want the knife without paying a ton of money. Thankfully there are plenty of reputable folks on Ebay.

As one cannot buy "from eBay," that advice is easy to follow.

I collect Boy Scout knives made in the U.S.A.. If one is interested in such knives (variously and meaninglessly sold as "vintage" or "antique") eBay is THE market. If one [pays through a credit card and remembers that eBay is like the Wild West, the risks are acceptable - at least to me.

I would not go to eBay for "tactical" folders unless the vendor had an excellent record indeed. That would be 99.9 Feedback, lots of sales, and good reviews.

I bought a Military from Ebay once. Received it and just had a real bad feeling it was a fake. Returned it without a problem. I have bought alot of knives on there but would not buy one that is popularly counterfeited. Spending a little more for a guaranteed legit knife is worth the piece of mind.

As most know Spyderco requires their dealers to sell all Spyderco Knives at their established map pricing. So if I was a buyer I would ask myself if the seller is not honoring the map pricing they have agreed to what else are they not doing right. Just something to think about IMO. We too sell on eBay and there are many sellers on eBay who offer great customer service and back what they sell, and never sell anything that is fake.
