I am trying to get some information on the relationship between Camillus and the Boy Scouts of America with regard to Camillus being contracted to make "official" Boy Scout Knives. I have read some of the information written by Bernard Levine and Dexter Ewing but I am looking for more detail.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

This want help you, becuase hardly any info was given on the Scout part. The last issue of Knives Illustrated had a great article in there titled "The Quiet Giant of Knifedom", a brief history of the company(Camillus). I hope someone answers your question, I'm interested in collecting scout models. RKBA!

Rick,
What info are you looking for? I will be glad to attempt to help you with more specifics. Thanks for the interest!

Camillus Cutlery Company has been manufacturing "Official" Boy Scout knives for
more than fifty years. During the late 1940's
Camillus made the 4 blade "Scout" knife that is easily identified by a two piece can-opener. Other knives made by Camillus include the 3 blade whittler (model #1047),
Cub Scout (model #1885), Norman Rockwell series and several other models. Let me know
what knives you are interested in and I will research our records.

Hi Mr.Williams,

Could you pls tell me if it is true that all camillus scout knives with a two piece can-opener were made during late 1940's? I have such a knife and I have long been wondering when it was made. Thank you very much!

Does anyone know if there was every an official Boy Scout "Barlow" pocketknife?

If not, if there is anyone from Camillus reading here, I think that a BSA Barlow knife would be a great idea. It is a very traditional design, provides two cutting blades, and is a very strong and utilitarian knife.

Just a question and an opinion.

Thanks.

Mr. Williams, I also have one with the two piece can opener. On the spear point knife blade is "Camillus" with a line beneath it, and "New York". On the other side of the blade is the number "99."

I got the knife many years ago, from my uncle who had been a Boy Scout, and also a Marine in the South Pacific, during WWII. He bought it for me when I went into the Scouts in 1950. (Later, I was an Eagle Scout.)

Thanks. L.W.

Camillus primarily used the two piece can-opener on the four blade camp knives, including the official B.S.A. knives, from 1946 to 1948. In 1948 we began using the one
piece can-opener that is still used today.

I decided to update this old topic, because it is interesting for me and, I am sure, for many members here.
Invite all collectors to post here pictures of their Camillus BSA knives and share any information.
Also I hope to see a lot of interesting informations from Tom and Phil :).

My collection of knives while very small, but I hope in time will be more.

I have a few questions about BSA Norman Rockwell knives.
What year started this series? How many different Norman Rockwell knives were issued by Camillus?
I know the models:
#BSA1002 "Tomorrow's Leader" (when?)
#BSA830 "Guiding Hand" (2000-2001)
#BSA831 "Adventure Trail" (2001-2002)
#BSA832 "Daily Good Turn" (2002-2003)
#BSA834 "Man Of Tomorrow" (2004-2005)

When produced and what part numbers have a models "On My Honor", "All Together", "A Scout Is Helpful" ?

Nice find Vitali!
Sorry, but I have no recollection of the numbers

The pattern number of this knife is a #5650. I can not tell you the model number because I can not locate the S-Card. Production of these knives began in December of 1984.

I bought this knife on ebay for $ 33. I spent a lot time and patience for clean this knife, but still have not finished it.
