i ruined the edge of my bk10 due to my poor sharpening skills using a whetstone... can i use a Smith's Two-Step Knife Sharpener to correct the ruined edge?

You can,

But I wouldn't recommend it. Those pull through carbide sharpeners strip / rip the metal off of the blade leaving micro serrations / chips. The edges don't last as long and it removes more metal then you want.

My recommendation would be to try a Smith's Tri-hone + sharpening guide. Just go slow and try to keep a constant angle while you do it. The best video I've found so far to explain it all is this one:

Try watching all 3 video's and it will show you how to get your knives scary sharp.

If you feel like going a different route, check out this video:

With a quick set up with some angled cuts you can make a sharpening rig that will supply you with a constant angle to fix your edge.

Same problem.
Pull through carbide sharpeners will rip away at the metal and jack up your edge.
The pull through ceramic is better but still can introduce a wave to the edge.

Any carbide pull-through sharpener is 'BAD' and should only be used in an emergency.

any opinion on this?

I have one, if you pull lightly through the carbide it won't wear away much metal, so far the best method of using this sharpener is sharpening with the diamond rod than hone it on the ceramic rod, a few strops on the strop will get it hair shaving sharp. Have been tested on my Tanto Cryo and my SCHF9

Hope it helps, Cheers!
