CAN YOU RECOMMEND A GOOD S90V FOLDER?

I'm looking for a knife made with S90V because I have heard very good things about this particular steel. Any suggestions?

I love S90V myself. What size, blade thickness, etc., folder or fixed, and what's your budget ?

There are several great Spydercos (PM2, Manix 2, Military, Chief, Yojumbo, Tighe Stick, etc.) that come to mind, but also some great Russian knives (e.g., Cheburkov and Biryukov).

Roland.

I currently own an S90V military so I can suggest that for certain. I’ve owned it for 5 years now. I do own an S30V paramilitary 2 which is one of my favorite EDC knives and I have an S90V version arriving today. So I’ll recommend that as well even though I haven’t carried it.

There is also the Phil Wilson Southfork. We need more info from the OP.

Edited: just saw it said Folder in the title. Still need size and budget, I feel.

I've been thinking about the PM2 in S90V and have seen two exclusives but both have been with the DLC coating which I don't like so much. I would jump on a plain S90V PM2.

I bought a PM2 in teal green G-10 and S90V black blade on eBay, and not sure who it was exclusive to, but it's not the knife joy version which is neon green and CPM-20CV. That would be a great one for which to look used.

I also like my Benchmade Mini Freek in carbon fiber and S90V from BladeHQ. I have one and it's very nice, but $300 now (up $30-40 since I bought).

I also bought a white scaled Benchmade Mini Griptilian with black S90V blade at a site that is not partnered here so I cannot share the name, for about $170. Mini Griptilian is pretty nice and ergonomic.

Knife center lists 3 Spyderco in S90V for under $300 right now (5 total), and I went for the Siren in carbon fiber and S90V made in the USA. My next choice would have been the Sinkevich Drunken but it's over 2x the price of the Siren at $500!

I own all 4 that I'm recommending.

DocJekl DocJekl How does the Siren carry and handle? I have I wasn't excited about the "swoop" look, but otherwise it looks nice. Is the carbon fiber grippy or smooth. I like the benchmade smooth CF, but the grippy stuff a bit less.

It carries really well, and the CF is the grippy kind. I like that it is not slippery, but you definitely feel the texture and wont lose it with a poor grip.

The thickness, width, and length when closed are similar to my Becnhmade Shootout OTF. The deep carry wire clip only allows about 1/2" with the lanyard hole to poke up above the pocket opening. And, after some break in, I can spidey-flick it open with my index finger (reverse flick), but at first I also had to fling out my wrist at the same time to do that (back lock Spyderco models are harder to spidey-flick if the blade is too small or light).

Some pics in hand and vs Shootout for scale. And pics to show the texture.

DLT exclusive S90V Paramilitary 2 with OD green scales and DLC coating

Nice colors on this and a great price during black friday.

I have the Drunken, and variants of the Manix 2, Military, PPT, Native Chief in S90V, but I carry the Drunken and PPT more often than the others because I prefer framelocks :D

Frankly, any Spyderco folder made w/S90V is a a "good S90V folder."

However, Spyderco makes SO MANY different types of folders using S90V that it's really impossible to suggest one without knowing what your specific requirements are beyond the type of knife steel used.

For example, what are your preferences for:

1) Blade length
2) Blade shape
3) Overall length
4) Total Weight
5) Lock type
6) Scale material
7) Scale material color
8) Frame material
9) Frame material color
10) Frame/scale (handle) shape
11) Clip type
12) Clip position

And, of course, how much are you willing to pay for the one you want?

If you can answer these questions, the knife for you will be come readily apparent by just looking at Spyderco/s website and/or catalog.
