Canadian Import Ruling

There nothing you can do about it unless the law has change about the prohibited weapons

Thing is, the law is the same as it has always been.
This is a stupid Tribunal ruling which makes it so they can be weasels, and ban the importation of knives with flippers:

  1. a knife has a blade that opens by centrifugal force, when the blade is released from the handle into the fully ejected and locked position with a simple and brisk outwardly flick of the wrist; and
  2. it includes knives that require some preliminary or simultaneous minimal manipulation of either a flipper or other non-edged parts of the blade.
Looks like they can even ban importation of knives that you could flick after opening it partway with a thumb-stud, given the weasel-words they have used.

It is a pain in the ass because it bans the importation of knives that are perfectly legal under the laws of Canada.
Good luck fighting it though.

The Border sucks, and I recommend avoiding it as much as possible, in person and in shipping items.

E-mail sent to the listed contact on the ruling's page...for all the good it will do.

Canadian knife laws are just ridiculous as it is without adding flippers to the list! Who knows what BS they will come up with next

It isn't a knife law though; that's what's even more annoying.

It's a Tribunal decision where they are now banning the import of things that are still legal to own in Canada!

The law is still the same as ever.
Customs is being even more dickish than before is all.
