Carbon Steel Question: 5160 vs. 1060

Which 5160 formulation are you guys using? All CRA? Is anyone who is successfully water quenching it using 5160 R?
 
Don't bring up the dead ,we don't need more zombies ! You quench with something that will get you full hardness without risk of quench cracks [micro or major] .
 
Ian, you might have better luck getting an answer by starting a new thread rather than bumping one that's over six years old. :)
 
CRA and HRA are not formulations...they are annealing and processing methods. The steel type is the same. For 5160 it is .60% carbon, 1.00% chromium, about 1.00% miscellaneous alloying (Mn, P, S, Si,) and the 97.4% bulk being iron.
