What are your thoughts on Carhartt steel toe workboots? I've got a pair of Wolverine work boots I bought a couple years ago that have held up to working outside in all conditions. This is just for working at home, I work in an office.

I had a pair of them and they were fairly comfortable but didn't end up lasting very long. I've had better luck with the American made Redwings and Danners. I have a pair of Irish Setters that are holding up fairly well too.

Carhartt boots were made by Red Wing from 2004 to 2011. Now they are made by Black Diamond, who I know little about other than make a lot of protective boots for fire fighters. I had a pair of the Red Wing made Carhartt boots and they were good but not great. The sizing was a bit off and they were closer to Red Wing's Worx line as far as quality.

Like ac700wildcat I have had positive experiences with Red Wing and Danner (USA made). I also like Chippewa boots and am wearing a pair of their Service boots at the office today although that style is just too pretty to be used as a real work boot.

I recently bought a pair of Danner's USA made Quarry boots and they are an excellent combination of comfort, support and durability. I appreciate the fact that Danner is upfront about which boots are made in the USA and which are not. I have had good experiences with Danner's non USA made boots but my preference is the USA made and that has more to do with patriotism than quality expectations.

I bought a pair of them a couple years ago and I can honestly say they are the worst pair of boots I have ever owned. I threw them in the garbage.

They were replacing a pair of Carhartts from around 2008 that were a couple years old that I really liked but werent waterproof any longer. They were uncomfortable and never really broke in after wearing them for several months. I had a pair of Wolverines inbetween them that were nice but didnt last very long. I currently have some Red Wings that my work provided that are just ok. (Work wont let me wear my current boots otherwise I would) They arent the USA made ones though so I am sure that would make a difference.

The boots I have now are 8" Caterpillar Generator steel toes with the Flexion sole. They are the most comfortable pair of work boots I have ever had, by quite a bit too. I recently changed jobs but i was doing construction year round in the elements and used them for about a year and they are holding up nicely. Now I get off work, take my Red Wings off and put on my Cats.

I have had great experiences with Danner. Georgia Boot gets a lot of praise around here too, although i have no personal experience with them.
