i head that (Cas Iberia) made a good starter sword, any input?

i really want a sword of the cold steel hand and a half sword style, but not sure of colds steels sword quality, and more over if its a good deal.

i am willing to spend but not to 500 bucks for a starter.

i want a one handed sword thats i can use two handed, and i don't like the super taper of some bastard swords so plz use this link as a reference

Don't skimp on your swords. May of the cheaper swords are for display only; if you try to swing them, the tang or blade may break, and you or someone you care about may be seriously injured. For that matter even the best of swords will break if used improperly. If you really want to learn the sword, then start by seeking out a good instructor. Stay safe and buy quality; you will live longer and be much much happier.

This is a problem you do not want to have:

haha omg i saw that a long time ago. >.< poor dude...

now as to cold steel. their arnt all that bad to tell the truth. they have some awsome quality steel for the price u pay.

i have a cold steel moro barong and its still kickin after taking many a beating.

(haha chopped down a tree with it once)

as to that cs hand and a half sword its made of decent steel (1055) so i would look for reviews of people who have already got one.

I'd recommend either going for an Albion Squire line or an Angus Trim.
If you really want some sweet custom styling for relatively low prices, Albion, Angus Trim, and Michael "Tinker" Pearce are excellent options. Check out Arms & Armor as well.

If you like the CS swords, check out Dynasty forge. They make the blades for cold steel. Same exact blades with different furniture.

That $750 double edged katana CS sells? You can get that dirrect from Dynasty for $50 less, or you can get the SAME blade set in less ornate furniture for $250.

CAS Iberia swords are consistanly noted for being 20-25% heavyer than the originals they are reproducing. With modern advanceds in metalurgy they should be lighter not heavyer. In cutting tests they dont penetrate quite as deeply as a sword of their weight should; Probably due to the harmonic ballance being a bit off.

They are also consistantly sited for having a rough finish.

That said they are functional and will stant up to hard use by all acounts. They make great beaters, but are not "nice" swords.

thanks so much i am looking at Dynasty forge as i type this, i also found a site i found https://www.realarmorofgod.com/shop/index.php/cPath/45

i think most of the stuff is prolly cheep tho.
i have just always wanted a roman gladius but the 666 that Albion wants is gona drain all i got

If it is a Gladius you are after for a starter I'd suggest www.kriscutlery.com CAS Iberia? The Chen stuff is an okay bang for the buck in both Eastern and Western Lines although some of their stuff has problems. If it's a specific sword you are after you might want to ask about it.
