Since I am not fortunate enough to get to the SHOT Show but am fortunate enough to have a few minutes here and there to scour the intrawebz for rumors, sneak peeks and new releases from SHOT.

This morning I found this:

The 2013 SHOT Show will see the release of a collaborative effort between Carhartt and W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co. on a new collection of knives: the Carhartt Knives by Case Collection. Made up of 22 individual models, the knives are divided into three separate categories: the G-10 knives which features 7 knives with an ultra-tough handle material with an earthy color and rugged texture inspired by Carhartt’s signature Duck Canvas, the Molasses Bone family with 9 knives that feature a dark brown and bone-colored handle, and the 6 knives in the Rough Black-over-Cream family which are manufactured using a high-quality, durable resin. Examples of each family of knives can be see in the images above. In addition, each knife in the Carhartt Knives by Case Collection will feature Tru-Sharp™ surgical steel blades with a strong shoulder grind and a Scotch-Brite™ brushed finish, which is also found on each knife’s Lazy Duck-shaped bolster inspired by the traditional back pocket stitching style found on Carhartt clothing.

Opinions?

personally I'm hoping for a Mini Copperlock with the Molasses Bone.

Nice! Thanks for the heads up on these. I really like the looks of that Rough Black over Cream. I agree, too bad there's no CV.

FYI,a lot of Carhartt clothing is no longer Made in the USA. Gone to Mexico.

Absolutely true but, they could have gone with an imported, low quality offering. Instead they teamed up with Case.

Both our points made, lets end political discussion here. Thanks.

I'll vote for that as well. Thanks for starting this thread.

I would like to see CV, but it is nice to see them teaming up with Case. Might get some more Case knives sold at Tractor Supply Company and other places where Carhartt is heavily sold.

My comment had nothing to do with politics. Informational Only. Sorry I posted on your thread,

Look pretty good in G-10, I bought a jacket from their US made line in November. I just wish they had red G-10 to match my jacket. I'd like to see a tiny toothpick without a premium price tag.

The 'strong shoulder grind' might be a reference to the slightly forward-angled grind of the ricasso (maybe in tandem with a more gently radiused hollow in the plunge). That looks a little different from the dead-vertical ricasso grind on Case's standard line.

(It occurred to me, it would've been neat to see the standard brown Carhartt duck canvas integrated into canvas micarta covers on these. :) )

You might look for some of the older 'Ruger' series from Case, from a few years ago. Red G10 and a Ruger shield. I'd bet there are still some on the secondary market (new old stock).

The brown matches my winter coat but I'd need a teal/blue-green to match my squall jacket, a gray to match my knit cap a Black to match my bib overalls. :p You live in my neighbor hood so like me, I'm sure everyone you know has a closet full of Carhartt.

The brown G10 in the pic has what looks like a copper shield. It'd be nice to see that on all of them but the other two look like brass and NS.

I like this particular collaboration. It would have been all too easy for Case to put out some super shiny 1 of 5000, knife in a tin and then sell it as a "collectors" knife, but they chose to make some down to earth, useful knives that are a bit out of the norm, but nothing too outlandish.
