Hi everybody, who has a Case Copperhead and how do you like them? Seems like a pretty cool pattern and an interesting Texas Jack alternative. I had a mini copperlock once but it was a little small for me, I am hoping that the full size will be a better working knife.

I love the copperhead pattern. I have last year's model in a 2 blade and an '81 single blade in stag. Very capable work knife with similar (if not identical) blades as the large Texas jack. I will say the older version feels more sturdy than the newer one, the blade stock is slightly thicker, maybe due to being a single blade, I don't know for sure. 20210920_075117_copy_1152x864.jpg20211126_161012_copy_864x1152.jpg20211126_161041_copy_864x1152.jpg

I got a couple when they came out of the vault. The clip blade has more belly than their stockman mains. I also think the straight-backed handle is nice, if only for a change. I like them a lot.

The black one is stainless, but I scuffed it up to cut the glare.

I only own half a dozen Case knives these days. They have to fight it out with the Bokers, Alber's, and GECs for pocket time, and sadly that's not a fight that Case often wins.

The Copperhead is one of those Case knives that has stuck around (it helps that Mike sent me stellar example). It's a great sized knife with excellent construction. I highly recommend them. :)

I only have one of the newer examples. Fit and finish is very good ... centering and all
- The main blade does have a little blade rock at the half stop
- Main blade pull was a little anemic for my tastes but strangely the pull has stiffened up a bit with use
Those two "issues" are I'm sure just luck of the draw and each knife will be somewhat unique

The Copperhead is the ideal up-size for the Mini-Copperlock, Texas Jack and Medium Jack and is a favorite

I am quite fond of the Copperhead pattern and I think Case's version is pretty stellar. It just so happens that it is my wife's favorite pattern and I need no excuse to grow her modest collection as I come across them.

I just bought one last week. After some minor surgery I think it’s going to be a fine tool. Do you have the option to buy in person? I suppose with a Case you may have to tweak it. I’d say it’s worth $55~ you’d pay

No, I bought one online today. Case has a veteran discount that they do, so I got a good price on one and I ordered an Antique jigged bone model.

To the people that have used their copperheads a lot, do you miss having the longer secondary blade of a trapper? I like jack knives like the copperhead but always think that a short secondary like a pen blade seems like a waste when you have all of that space in the handle for a longer blade. Maybe it is less obtrusive than a long spey blade would be?

That same space is proportionally there with any Jack knife. In the Case line, from a Peanut to a Texas Jack, Medium Jack and the Copperhead with Pen for example.
Fans of a Jack knife won't complain. On the other hand, fans of Trapper knives would agree with you. Personally, I prefer a Jack over a Trapper ... and really not sure exactly why, just do.
Guess it all boils down to personal preference.
