Case equivalent of a Buck 55?

Hi guys! I'm new to the forum and really just made this account to ask this question. (not really sure if this is even the right section to be posting this in, so if there is a better one please let me know!) I was wondering if Case does make or has ever made a lock back pocket knife similar to the buck 55? By that I mean a small lock back knife that has a clip point blade, I know they make them with spear points but I really dig the clip point on the 55. I absolutely love the looks of the buck knife but I prefer Case Cutlery as a company over Buck. (mostly sentimental reasons but I also don't like that some buck knives are made overseas, I know the 55 is US made, but still.) Please don't refer to the Copperlock knife that Case makes...yes it does qualify but the looks just don't move me the way the 55 does. Thanks in advance!

Might get better help in the Traditional sub-forum.

Have you considered looking for USA Schrade LB5 or LB3?

Okay thanks. I hadn't really given Schrade much thought because I heard that all their knives are now made overseas (though an older one like you're suggesting would be okay if US made). If I'm not going to be buying Case then Buck is probably a better option than Schrade in my book, afterall its the 55 that's pulling on my heartstrings! Thanks for the input though Pinnah!

What about the Russlock?

Edit: ooops forgot that was a linerlock. Nvm...

yes I have looked at the makos and the russlock knives, The Russlocks just look kind of strange to me. They're pretty I suppose but don't seem like they would be well suited to being a working edc knife. As for the Mako knife...isn't that a belt knife? I absolutely love the looks of the Mako and what I was really looking for was a shrunk down version of that in the Case line, I just couldn't find one sadly.

Willgoy, the problem with the Copperlock is that the blade just looks funky to me. I don't really know why per-se....but it does none the less. The 55 has that perfect clip-point that screams beauty and functionality where as the copperlock, while im sure it would work just fine, doesn't look right to me.

Don't rule out the Buck based only on where they make some of their knives. Even Case has a line of knives made overseas (so-called 'tecX' modern/tactical line; not traditional knives). Both companies do what they have to do to lower their overall costs and maintain at least some U.S. manufacturing presence. And they both seem to do it very well. Many other companies haven't worked nearly as tenaciously to stay here.

If you like the Buck 55, get it. :)

(The 55 has tempted me for a long time, but it's just a bit smaller than I'd prefer. I have no doubts about the quality of it or the company behind it, though).

Buck needs to get control of the blade wobble issues they seem to continually have on their recent lockbacks, imo.

Yes, their customer service is great. They should be. Practice makes perfect.

Thanks for the comments guys, I was leaning toward the 55 already but was just hoping that somehow I had missed Cases' version of it. My Grandpa has always had a Case Stockman in his pocket for as long as I can remember and he always said Case makes the best pocket knives (which is a sentiment I largely agree with) and so for that reason I've always been partial to Case myself. We both have the Case folding hunter knives but I just never really felt that enthralled with the stockman design and so was looking for something that I really personally liked. I came across the 55 and was hooked right away with the looks of it.

If your're looking for a high-quality lockback and don't like the Buck, you should think about something from GEC. However, you will pay considerably more for it.

The Schrade Old Timer lockbacks are worth investigating, and US made ones are still out there but some have said that there were quality issues towards the end.
Puma made some decent lockbacks in compact size too.

Wagglebee I'm sure that GEC makes a fine knife but spending $100+ dollars on a pocketknife is pointless to me. *bracing for a knife point pun* I'd be afraid to use it and carry it for fear of losing or damaging the blade. I'm also a poor college student and I have a lot of other things I could be spending my money on. I just want a good looking work knife that I can carry everyday.

If you are looking for a good quality lockback for under $50, then Buck is probably the way to go. You should try to get it someplace where you can see the actual knife you're getting.
