What would you get? obviously in CV ..

Bone, yellow? and if you have one (or both) it would be great to see it/them!

I like bone personally. The peanut is already a small knife @ 2 7/8" closed and the mini trapper is 2 3/8" closed. My hands are too big for the peanut for my liking. The nice thing about this forum is someone else will chime in with their thoughts. :)

I have a CV Chestnut Bone Mini Trapper and a Red Synthetic Stainless Peanut. I'd go with the Mini Trapper. I really like that pattern. Two good full sized blades and enough to hold on to so that you can get a good grip on it. Depends on your use, though. Lot's of guys like the peanut pattern. I prefer something just a little bit bigger.

Just for clarification, the Mini trapper is 3 1/2". The Tiny Trapper is smaller than the peanut at 2 3/8".

I'm a big bone fan myself but have gotten the yellow bug recently. Both great knives and the yella peanut seems to be a staple here but this cv mini trapper sure does it for me.

One of these two have accompanied me to work for every shift for the last two years. I've never felt lacking in blade length and they accomplish everything I ask of them.

A vote for the peanut from me :)

Of the choices listed, I would chose a Mini Trapper in Chestnut Bone CV. There is nothing wrong with the other options. The choice depends on what you plan to use it for, how and where you like to carry it. Choice of handle material is purely up to individual tastes.

That would be my choice as well John. Not too big and not too small.

Mudguard, is this a hypothetical question or are you planning a purchase? I thought you carried a yellow Delrin Peanut already?

I got a yellow peanut that I keep in a coin pouch (along with a piece of sharpening stone and a pencil) what is nice about the yellow is that you don't mind having your knife share its space with other objects. the blade combo is nice cause the clip is just long enough to cut what I need and the pen is perfect for little things like cleaning nails (a common practice for an outdoor worker with a germ issue) and other tasks such as a pipe tool. the positive for it being so small is that you can slip it into anything, like a coin pouch, and keep it as a back-up in case you left you main knife at home or want to use something smaller.

I have a mini trapper which I carried for a good part of a year. the handle is bone which in my mind seems less sturdy than the yellow (which isn't necessarily the case but that is how my mind works) but the jigging feels great in the hand and reduces the chance of slipping. love having two long blades at my disposal, both have pluses when working, using the clip for various cutting and scraping tasks and the spey to cut up an apple to share with a chum. good to have designated blades for work and personal use. the trapper is also slim enough to slip into the pocket without being noticeable but it is still a solid working knife for any task.

I got small hands so either feels fine in them but if you have big ones, a peanut may feel a tad too small for you, if that's the case try their yellow pen knives (3 1/8inches) both handles and blade configurations feel comfortable in the hand so it is a matter of what size feels right. in the long run you may get them both (a path many of us seems to choose) so either would be good for now or later :)

Don't forget about the trapper nut, Blades of a trapper size of a peanut.
I have a peanut and a mini trapper. They both have uses and I am not sure I like one more than the other.

Both the peanut and mini-trapper are great patterns. I own two of each...mini-trappers, one older Buck and one Case; peanuts, two cases (Pocketworn red bone and yeller).

While the peanut is a little more pocket-friendly, I prefer the mini-trapper (MT) over it. I've recently began appreciating the mini-trapper more than ever before. While the peanut is a very good knife, for me they're more awkward to use than a MT. I feel the MT is an ideal pocketknife size. Also, I feel like a peanut is 'slippery'-shaped and can more easily slip out of a pocket unknowingly. I've had small knives (SAK Classic, and peanut) do that, though luckily I've never lost a knife. I've never had that happen with a mid-sized or bigger knife.

In fact, I just ordered a yeller-handled Case SS mini-trapper. :)

You guys are killing me! Now I might have to pick up a tiny trapper with a wharncliff blade. Were they made in CV or only SS with the wharncliff?

Wow that is a stunner! I have been thinking of picking up a peanut for quite a while now, but I am now thinking more seriously about a mini trapper! :D
