Anyone have pics of a Sodbuster and Sodbuster Jr side by side or with something like a Buck 110 or other commonly known sized knife?
Thanks

Bro---You'll get yer pix. Meanwhile, get that Soddie! I ordered one of each and found the Jr. a tad too small. I think Case has the overall best F&F. There has been an interest in the Sodbusters again.

Thanks
Hows the Soddie different from the Bose BackPocket pattern?

The Bose BackPocket is a trapper pattern in either 4" (4 1/8") or 4.5" closed size.

The Sodbuster's are simple clasp knives in either 3 5/8" or 4.5" to 4.75" closed size.

The large Sodbuster (4 5/8" and up) is not only an inch longer than the Jr. size, but proportionally wider and stouter as well. I'll see if I can't scare up an image or two for you.

Okay, here's a couple of comparison pix.

First image is Sodbuster Jr, Bose BackPocket (4 1/8"), Tomes Lockback (4.5"), Large Sod Buster (4 5/8")

Second image is large and small sodbusters side by side.

I won a Sodbuster on a popular online auction site ;) and found it too big. Traded it for a yellow cv Sodbuster Jr. and I'm a happy man. That cv takes a ludicrously sharp edge.

I started out carrying the larger soddies, but after a few years my taste ran to the junior models. One of the benifits of the sodbuster's simple design is the light weight for it's size. I really don't think my Case junior was as heavy in the pocket as a medium stockman or a sak tinker.

I love these soddie threads almost as much as the peanut ones.:)

That's funny. My Pop likes the Jr. Maybe the Big Soddies are just for us young'ins! ah-hem--48!! :)

Well, Vince, coming from an aficionado of your stature and experience that's really saying something! Many thanks!

Cool! Hmm I wish they did a larger Sod in CV.
Is there an FAQ on patterns? I don't know the diff between a Trapper and a Clasp

GarageBoy,

Look at Waynorth's "Knife Terminology" thread at the top of the page for starters.

Meander through the "Bose Knives" thread for images of many knives of various patterns. (Also at the top of the page.)

Check the net and possibly invest in a book or two on the subject. It's nice to have reference books.
