This may have already been discussed but I wonder when these will start rolling out to stores?

"in fact Case’s Chrome Vanadium is a custom blend of 1095 steel." That is the first time I have ever seen Case state publicly what steel they actually use. OH
I've seen other reports that have stated their CV is basically just 1095. Also, their True Sharp is basically 420hc.
Not exactly secret squirrel stuff but I guess they wanted it to seem "special" by giving it cool names.

I just ordered a Amber jigged Bone Sod Buster Jr. and a Chestnut jigged bone Sod Buster Jr. both with CV blades yesterday. Can't seem to get enough Sod Buster Jr. knives. Don't know what's wrong with me - just keep hitting the add to cart button.;):) Don't know exactly how many I have but I think these will put me North of twenty.

I thought "CV" was 1095 or lower carbon 10xx with a tiny amount of vandium, or a tiny amount of chrome and vandium added.

That's good to hear - I've always wondered exactly what CV is. So then I suppose they are really just re-branding their CV as 1095, rather than actually introducing a different steel?
They're apparently changing their tang stamps to include "CS" instead of "CV", so Case apparently at least wants us to think there's a difference. And the whole story about supply chain stuff makes it sound like they're worried about getting some of the ingredients needed to make CV.
But I'm quite gullible. 🤓

1095 must be cheap as hell.
I'm sure it is much cheaper than other options, which probably figures into their business model.
They obviously have the ability to use higher end tool steels and fancier stainless stuff, but then the price point increases too.
Maybe some day we will see more runs of the high end stuff outside of the Bose Collaborations.

I am a fan of 1095 - if done right, it is tough, takes a keen edge quickly and easily, and ages gracefully.

That said, I have been carrying my Case/Bose knives for weeks now and there is something to be said about that 154-CM steel. I'm used to having to strop my 1095 pocket knives every other day or so but this steel just keeps going - it's an excellent choice for an everyday user.

(I just miss the patina....)
