Case Yellow Handles - Yea or Nay

Hey guys. I was just curious how you guys feel about synthetic yellow handles on your Case knives.

Ive noticed that some patterns are hard to find in CV in any handle material other than the yellow. Thats how i ended up with a yellow peanut. I really liked it at first, probably from hearing how traditional and classic it is. I have to say though, thats its starting to loose its appeal. It just seem kind of cold and sterile to me. So, how about you guys?

I used to be nay, in a big way.
But over the last year or so yellow has really grown on me as a handle color. I'm not crazy over Case's rather anemic version,
but really like the yellow on Queen's Country Cousin and AG Russell's Cowboy and Rancher.
I've even ordered some "yeller" on some customs.

I think the material is the problem for me. I really don't mind yellow, but the synthetic material just seems soulless. I'm a sucker for the looks of a well used knife with a dark patina and a bone handle that has smoothed out over time.

I love the yellow, and wish it were avaialble on more CV choices. When you get a nice build up patina on the blades, I love how they contrast with the yellow handles. However, I do wish Case would make the yellow handles more yellow. Like the yellow on the Buck companion or the Victorinox classic my better half carries. Those are real yellow.

Hey Case, are ya listening? Add a little more dye to the mix!

Carl.

I like yellow delrin; not because its the cheapest option even. If you drop it, you can find it.

The first case i ever bought when i was 14 has a yellow handle and i got that because it reminded me of an old schrade stockman that my dad has had since he was a kid that has yellow(although i might say a much deeper yellow) synthetic scales. So to me they are classic!

Wasn't a fan at all until I got one in a swap. I like my Case CV stockman with the yellow handle but probably wouldn't run out to buy another. My preference is stag, ebony or bone.

There's definitely something "classic" about yellow plastic handles. Like many, I prefer a natural material like bone, but if it's synthetic, give me yellow. I don't much care for faux bone jigged/molded delrin. Even the sawcut delrin on a Schrade Old Timer isn't all that endearing to me. I don't mind that Case's yellow isn't as brilliant as some other companies' yellow. I like the bright, brilliant yellow on other knives, but something about Case's yellow, especially with a stained, patinaed carbon steel blade, just looks "right" to me.

Yella Case cv knives look great out of the box. And they look better after a few years of using the heck out of 'em! Great knives.

While not my first choice, it does have it's appeal. Like others have said, it's just a classic color that we remember from our youth.

I still remember my Dad's old large stockman with the black almost rusting blades, one of them broken, and the scratched up yellow handles.

Based on those that I have handled, they look nice with a dark patina on the blades, but are just sort of passive weak looking, like they have half as much dye as they should. I like the Queen ones better, as others have said.

Yea from me, both Case and Buck
Makes them easy to find when I drop them in the woods lol.

I hate yellow. It makes me think of urine, jaundice, stains, cowardice etc. Next to pink it's my least favorite color. If a knife I wanted was only available in yellow, I wouldn't buy it.

Wow!! How long did it take you to find all those words in the Thesaurus????? Cowardice huh????? Lots of people like yeller handles here. What about that old dog "Yeller"??? Maybe he ought to have his yeller butt kicked to the curb.

Maybe this will change your mind. Typical Case CV yellow delrin covered 4 1/8" Trapper.

Yeah. God forbid I share my varying opinion (although the OP asked for it)

My yellow medium stockman kicked all other knives out of my pocket for months, it was my instant favorite when i started with traditionals, but it slowly got replaced with a bone peanut, mostly because of the size i think, but maybe i can add the bone as an extra reason. If i had a yellow peanut too i could be more sure about that.
Still, the yeller stockman remains one of my favorite pocket knives. It's easy to see, more impact resistant, smooth to the touch, plus with that contrast Carl was talking about, is also great to look at.
So... case yellow...yea

Yellow is the classic working mans knife. Someone who wants a case but don't want to pay an extra thirty or forty dollars for bone or stag bc these knives is going to b used hard. I believe if case didn't offer the yellow handle they would b hurting. How many guys y'all know that owns or carried a yeller handled case trapper? Everybody I know owns or carries one. Most of them is self proclaimed millionaires that works hard every day and still carries one bc paying extra for the same knife just because of the handles is a waste of money to them.
