CFP-90 Vector Broke! Help? New pack?

I've been carrying a CFP-90 I got from an Ex-AF.
I noticed a coupe of weeks ago that the plastic
"V" that connects the shoulder straps to the pack
was cracking, Well now it broke!

I know I've heard of this happening before
(after I had got mine) but never heard of the
easy military (or otherwise) fix, any ideas?

At this point I would put the pack in the Bad
but not the Ugly but I'm not quiet sure how to
fix this, Replace it with some Kydex or maybe some
para-cord.........help... please?

Also not sure of what I would replace it with
the Large Alice seems likely
(I love my Med and Mini but don't use the frame)
I think even the large Becker PP would be to small
but haven't even gotten to try one.
Doesn't look like the Molle is that great iether
judgeing from some of the mil. reviews lately.

I would need 4000-5000+ C.I. Extra pockets are a major plus
Price would be 100-300ish

Thanks

WWW.KIFARU.NET is the addy.

I have the EMR, Navigator, and Marauder.

Excellent packs. They have a message board over there too.

Great packs. Not cheap, but not cheap either.

I have heard far more ill than good about the CFP-90.

Get a Kifaru.

I was hopeing you would stop by I've been looking at those
but I'm not sure what I think of internals.
For my use the pack doesn't have a sleeping bag in it
50% of the time (I.E. the S.B. is in use)
I've never had an internal I felt comfortable standing up
with out the bottom filled.

So anyway the question is are you comfortable
seting your EMR or NAv. on the frame?

I was think the setup for me would be
MMR + Scout + a coupe of pouches (like 3 of Long Pockets)
Switch comes to around 4200+2000+1300 ~ 7,500 C.I.
428+3x30+190 = $708

or Do you think the Ptman could replace the MMR in this
setup? That would make it. Ptman + Scout + LongPockets.
3000+2000+1300 ~ 5300 C.I. at a price of $600

That puts it at least 2X the price I was aiming for.
A Large Alice is only $40, Do you really think it's
worth the difference? I'm quiet happy with my Med.

Does the Nav. have the same frame as the EMR?
I've never felt comfortable with front-loaders
is the Nav. really tough or should I go with the Ptman?

Thanks :)

Over on assaultweb.net , there are some guys who modify existing gear - one of them may be able to repair/revise the CFP-90.

Flotsam:

They'll probably tell him the same thing I did. They are not fond of the CFP-90 either. It'll be like taking a hamster to the vet.
But maybe Gene @ High Speed Gear could help.'

Tactical Tailor does some mods as well.
WWW.TACTICALTAILOR.COM is the addy.

Atrick-Pay:

I have my EMR set up as my main pack. I can either attach my Marauder or Navigator to it. The EMR has two Long Pockets on the sides. My Marauder has a Back Pocket attached to it. I can attach my Marauder to either my EMR or Navigator. I can also attach my two Long Pockets to either my Navigator or Marauder. The Kifaru pack system is very flexible.
The Frame and Suspension systems of my packs are very comfortable. I had a Large Becker pack with a lighter load, and it felt more....cumbersome if you will.
Whatever you get, at least get two Long Pockets with a Back Pocket.
I would say the Kifaru beats the ALICE big time.
I too was a bit worried about a panel loader, but the Navigator and Marauder have some big beefy zippers and the compression traps take the strain off of them.

Give me a holler and executionstyle at hotmail.com, and we can chat further.

Per assaultweb.net (thanks Flotsam)
I have now fixed it with some duct tape,
and some Ballistic Nylon.

Wish I had done this before it broke! :(

Still looking at the Kifaru (Thanks for the help so far E.S.)
but glad I got this fixed as I'll need it next week.

If you need a tactical pack, then the Kifarus look great.

If you don't, look at http://www.mchalepacks.com/ and Google search "mchale" and "pack" to find all the glowing reviews. You can get a custom made McHale for Kifaru money. They are load monsters and I have yet to speak with anyone who owns one who does not swear by it. Check them out.
